WRC: Kris Meeke improves to sixth place at Rally Sweden
Northern Ireland driver Kris Meeke is in sixth position after Saturday's stages at Rally Sweden.
After being eighth overnight, Toyota driver Meeke, 39, moved up two spots early on Saturday and he remained in sixth for the remainder of the day.
Meeke is one minute and 36.5 seconds behind Toyota team-mate Ott Tanak who will take a 54.5 second lead over Andreas Mikkelsen into the last day.
Finland's Esapekka Lappi is on the race time as Mikkelsen in third place.
Estonian Tanak moved ahead of overnight leader Teemu Suninen on stage 10 before the Finn lost nearly a minute and half after hitting a snowbank.
After he then dropped down to eighth place, Suninen's hopes finally ended as he crashed out on stage 15.
Meeke is just under 28 seconds behind fifth-placed fellow Britain Elfyn Evans with Belgium's Thierry Neuville a further 12 seconds ahead in fourth.
The Northern Irishman's best performances on Saturday were fourth spots on stages 10 and 11.
The Swedish event concludes with Sunday's three stages.
Dungannon man Meeke finished sixth in last month's season-opening Rally Monte Carlo after having tyre troubles.
However, his win in the final power stage in Monte Carlo earned him bonus points which left him fourth in the world championship.
Meeke is competing for Toyota this season after being dropped from Citroen's line-up midway through the 2018 season.
