Entries are now open for the 2012 Isle of Man TT races and for the first time the registration process will be handled completely online.

Organiser Paul Phillips says the new and fully automated online race management system should make registration easier.

Phillips said: "The new system includes several features designed to enhance interaction with the event."

This year's event will run between 26 May and 11 June.

Phillips continued: "The new software will give racers access to a host of previous data from their efforts around the Mountain Course.

"All the TT riders will also be able to share their performances in real time, using Facebook and other social networks."

The software will allow competitors to register their machines, list their paddock requirements and license details, and arrange travel to the Isle of Man for the event.

More than 200 solo and sidecar competitors competed at the 2011 races.
