Swindon Robins manager Alun Rossiter says he would like to bring Coventry rider Emil Sayfutdinov to the club.
The 22-year-old former world number three was signed by Rossiter in May, while he was still manager at the Brandon outfit.
"It will be really nice to have Emil come in," he told BBC Wiltshire.
"He won't be coming in this year but he's certainly on the back burner. I've got good ties with him, we left on good terms and we still keep in contact."
Rossiter, who won the Elite League with the Bees in 2010, returned to the Robins earlier this month after a two-year absence.
Swindon finished bottom of the league last season and Rossiter admits he will have to shake up his team in order to turn around the club's fortunes.
"I think they'll be some wholesale changes next year, that's for sure," he said. "We need to get an out-and-out number one, nuture him and build on that year after year.
"We are working behind the scenes already and if we get what we want I think it will be very exciting.
"I've come back a little bit wiser, more mature and I'm confident we can try and do something.
"I'm not saying we are going to win the league but I'll be trying my hardest."
