Tim McNulty pips Derek McGarrity in Ulster Rally

Tim McNulty produced a strong second day at the Ulster Rally to take victory over Derek McGarrity.

McNulty trailed McGarrity by 18 seconds after day one but the Meath man dominated Saturday's action to finish 18 seconds clear of the Ulsterman.

McGarrity maintained his lead until the penultimate stage when Donegal Rally winner McNulty went 18 seconds faster.

Meanwhile, Kris Meeke lies fifth after Saturday's stages at the World Championship event in Germany.

The Dungannon driver swapped fifth and six places with Petter Solberg on a number of occasions on Saturday before edging 9.1 seconds ahead of the Norwegian by the end of Saturday's action.

Meeke produced impressive driving in his mini despite encountering a puncture on Saturday while Solberg suffered three punctures during Saturday's stages.

Overnight leader Sebastien Loeb also suffered a puncture on Saturday's final stage which dropped him into second place, a minute and 13 seconds behind new leader team-mate Sebastien Ogier.

Meeke's mini team-mate Daniel Sordo is one minute and 23 seconds ahead of Meeke in third place.

Former Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen lies seventh - two minutes and 20 seconds behind Meeke.
