Ipswich Witches youngster Taylor Poole is expected to be out for three weeks after being told he will not require hand surgery.
The 19-year-old Australian had a planned operation postponed and will now avoid going under the knife.
Meanwhile, the Suffolk side will give a late fitness test to Chris Mills ahead of Thursday's visit of Newcastle.
Mills, 28, missed last week's away win over Plymouth with a knee complaint, with Ritchie Hawkins guest riding.
The victory was the Witches' second of the season on their travels and puts them fifth in the Premier League.
