Leicester Lions have signed Dudley's Ashley Morris to replace John Oliver for Thursday's trip to Sheffield.
The teenager has been in good form for the Heathens in the National League and gets his chance after Australian reserve Oliver injured his wrist.
Promoter David Hemsley said: "I watched Ashley complete a number of practice laps of our track on Friday.
"I was impressed with his attitude and the way he adapted so quickly having never ridden here before."
Hemsley added: "The fixture at Sheffield gives me an opportunity to assess Ashley in a competitive meeting at this level."
Meanwhile Leicester promoter David Hemsley has branded last week's demoralising 62-28 home defeat against title-chasing Glasgow as inept.
Hemsley said: "Whilst I have every admiration for Glasgow, we have been given a lesson.
"I will be considering how we can address the situation to ensure that fans do not have to witness such an inept performance from a Lions team again."
