Mildenhall Fen Tigers dominate Young Stars
Mildenhall Fen Tigers made light work of King's Lynn Young Stars in Sunday's National League clash at West Row.
The East Anglian bragging rights rest with Mildenhall for the time being after Lewis Blackbird's 14-point haul led them to a 56-37 victory.
The 24-year-old almost started the season as a Young Star but made a late switch to Suffolk, with Olly Rayson going the other way.
Rayson and Ashley Birks scored 11 points each for King's Lynn.
But the pair failed to find support from further down the line-up, in contrast to the Fen Tigers who were able to turn to the likes of James Brundle (12) and Joe Jacobs (10) to bolster the Blackbird's performance.
"I had chats with most of the boys during the week, and then we worked hard during a practice session on Saturday," said co-promoter Michael Lee.
"It's paid off well with James back to his best and, at last, Joe Jacobs showing us what he is capable of, racing hard and getting the sort of score we expect.
"It was great to get our first three-point win of the season on the board and to stay unbeaten at home."
The result sees Mildenhall leapfrog King's Lynn into third in the table, two points above their local rivals.
