Lorenzo wins MotoGP title

Jorge Lorenzo wins the MotoGP world championship by finishing second at the Australian Grand Prix, after Dani Pedrosa crashes out.

Pedrosa, who needed to finish ahead of fellow Spaniard Lorenzo to keep the title race alive going into the final race of the season, came off his Honda on the second lap around Phillip Island and was forced to retire.

Casey Stoner won his sixth successive Australian MotoGP in his final home race before retiring, while Briton Cal Crutchlow claimed his second podium of the season by finishing third.
