  1. Who is representing GB?

    Sophie Coldwell goes into the weekend looking to improve on her seventh place finish in Jersey. Sophie represented Team England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast and finished sixth. She went on to win the ETU European Sprint Triathlon Championships in Tartu, Estonia in July.

    Team-mate Olivia Mathias sits one place lower in eighth place. Mathias is a 2019 World U23 silver medallist. She also won individual and Mixed Relay medals at European U23 level to finish a successful 2018 season in which she was part of the Wales Mixed Relay Team that finished 6th at the Commonwealth Games.

    Chris Perham, who joins Coldwell and Mathias in being based at Loughborough Uni, is the sole male representative this weekend, although Jersey's Oliver Turner is also taking part.

  3. What is the Super League Triathlon?

    Super League Triathlon (SLT) is the epitome of professional triathlon talent; the best swim-bike-run athletes will compete against each other over the course of a year in different international series’, each with different race formats.

    Super League carries the richest prize purse in the sport. First place at each location final wins $20,000. The Championship Series winners take home an extra $100,000.

    This weekend sees athletes compete in the Equalizer.

    They will start by doing a 3.5 lap individual time trial to determine their start position in the triathlon that follows.

    A 300m swim, followed by a 4km bike ride and a 1.6km run twice over forms the triathlon.

    Like running, swimming or cycling? Fancy doing all three, one after the other? If you answered yes to the previous two questions then triathlon is the sport for you!

    The sport has a range of distances and formats to cut your teeth on, and as long as your daily exercise includes all three disciplines, you can call yourself a triathlete with pride.

    There are over 750 triathlon clubs in the UK with many of them offering taster sessions for people interested in taking up the sport. You can find a comprehensive list of races via the British Triathlon event finder.
