  4. What happened today at Wimbledon?

Rafael Nadal fought through injury to come from behind to beat Taylor Fritz and reach the Wimbledon semi-finals.

The Spaniard, who had a medical timeout at the end of the second set and struggled with his movement for long spells, won 3-6 7-5 3-6 7-5 7-6 (10-4).

Nick Kyrgios reached his first Grand Slam singles semi-final with a straight-set success over Chile's Cristian Garin.

Kyrgios won 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7-5) to become the first Australian man since 2005 to reach the last four at Wimbledon.

Former champion Simona Halep's revival continued as she reached the Wimbledon semi-finals with another rapid win over American Amanda Anisimova.

Romania's Halep, seeded 16th, considered quitting last year because of injury but the 2019 champion is now one more win from another SW19 final. Halep, 30, beat 20th seed Anisimova 6-2 6-4 in one hour and three minutes.

The two-time Grand Slam champion will play Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, who beat Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic.

Rybakina, seeded 17th, sealed her place in the last four shortly after Halep, fighting back to earn a 4-6 6-2 6-3 over unseeded Tomljanovic.

  7. 'I need to be at 100% against Kyrgios'

    Fritz 6-3 5-7 6-3 5-7 6-7 (4-10) Nadal

    BBC Sport

More from Nadal, as he is asked about the final 2008: "It happened a long time ago but it is impossible to remember that final with Roger and all the most special moments we shared around the world, and on this court we played special matches in our careers.

"Hard to imagine after that final in 2008 that in 2022 I would be here playing at Wimbledon."

Next up, Kyrgios: "I hope to be ready to play it. Then Nick is a great player on all the surfaces but especially on grass. He's having a great grass court season. I need to be at 100 percent to keep having chances."

  8. 'In the abdominal, something is not going well' - Nadal

    Fritz 6-3 5-7 6-3 5-7 6-7 (4-10) Nadal

    BBC Sport

Let's hear from Rafael Nadal after that epic win over Taylor Fritz: "I honestly enjoy a lot playing these kind of matches in front of you guys. I can't thank you enough for the support

"It's been a tough afternoon against a great player. Credit to Taylor that he has been doing great all season. Personally for me it was not an easy match at all so it is great to be in the semi-finals."

On his injury issues: "The body in general is fine, but in the abdominal something is not going well, being honest. I had to find a way to serve a little bit different. For a lot of moments I was thinking I would not be able to finish the match but the crowd, the energy, thanks for that."

  9. 'Friday will be electric'

    Laura Robson

Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

I think he will adjust. He has 48 hours to turn it around and try and find a solution, maybe that is more tape. Again we don't know what has gone on because it is one of the difficult parts of the body to handle. He was able to find a way through that.

I think in the key moments he was still going for it, still going for the big serves and not really caring what will happen with his ab.

I think it will be electric on Friday.

  10. Post update

    Fritz 6-3 5-7 6-3 5-7 6-7 (4-10) Nadal

Rafael Nadal confirms the problem that was bothering him from the second set onwards was an abdominal injury.

That does pose many questions ahead of Friday's semi-final with Nick Kyrgios. The Spaniard does at least have a day off tomorrow - but the injury will impact his preparation no doubt.

Let's hope he will be fit enough to play that semi-final.

Full on-court reaction from the second seed on its way shortly.

  11. Get involved

GT: How on earth did Rafa win that???

Sahil Oberoi: Yesterday I called Novak a 'mentality monster', Rafa just reminded us who patented that term. GOAT.

  12. 'What a win'

    Laura Robson

Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Where do you start? What a win that was. We were so sure he was going to stop but as Rafa does he finds a way through. It is hard to imagine the match against Kyrgios being any more dramatic than this one.

I feel for Taylor Fritz, he looks absolutely devastated. He will learn so much from this loss.
