  3. 'Murray's success is having ripple effect'

GB Davis Cup captain Leon Smith on BBC Two: "Stan came out quicker out of the blocks. But then Murray got that break in the first set and the shackles came off.

"I've known all of them [the GB team] for a long time, especially Andy and Jamie Murray [British number one doubles player]. It's an amazing journey they're going through and it's having a ripple effect on the other players.

"What makes it astonishing - is to go from two to world number one. The commitment having to make that one move takes a lot of work.

"When you sit courtside and are watching him during the rally and watching his movement - it's astonishing."

  4. As it stands...

  5. 'Murray is granite'

Former British number one Andrew Castle: "Murray is resilient and then he turns it. It was an excellent competitive performance and that's why I like the clothing. It's the military look. Murray is just granite."

Kyle: Another Murray masterclass - his form in 2016 has been sensational. Hope it's a Murray v Djokovic final.

  8. 'Raonic match will be tough'

Andy Murray on semi-final opponent Milos Raonic:

"He's played very well in this event. These are quick conditions here and it'll be tough. He's got a huge serve. It's an amazing stadium and atmosphere."

  9. Post update

    Murray 6-4 6-2 Wawrinka

Andy Murray on his victory: "The first set was tight. There weren't many chances. I managed to get the break late in the set. In the second set I'd already qualified for the semis so maybe it was easier for me to play more free than him.

"Things can change quick at this level. Stan is one of the best players in the world. When he plays at his best he's unplayable. I played a solid match and am happy to get to the semis."

  10. Post update

    Andrew Castle

    BBC Sport tennis commentator

Andy had the most brutal group of the two, but he's gone unbeaten through to the semi-finals.

  11. Game, set and match

    Murray 6-4 6-2 Wawrinka

Two great serves sees Murray move to match point. He's only made three aces, but his other serves have been very difficult to return.

The world number one seals a truly exceptional win when Wawrinka, again, sends his return skywards as he comes into the net.

  12. Post update

    Tim Henman

Former British number one on BBC Two

Murray showed unbelievable skill there. He broke a string and when that happens, you often run to the net because you don't have as much control but he still managed to play his part in an excellent rally.

  13. Post update

    Murray 6-4 5-2 Wawrinka*

Murray suffers from a broken string midway through the opening rally - he still manages an unbelievable lob. However, Wawrinka wins the point with a passing forehand that clips the net en route. It's 0-15

  14. Post update

    *Murray 6-4 5-2 Wawrinka

Wawrinka challenges at 30-15 and wins the challenge - the ball was out. At least that might perk him up... maybe not.

He wins his service game but is now staring defeat full in the face.

Murray is to serve for the match.

  15. Post update

    *Murray 6-4 5-1 Wawrinka

This is all rather demoralising for Wawrinka - Murray's is utilising everything is his arsenal. Variation on serves, groundstrokes, coming into the net, dictating from mid-court and from the back.

He seals his service game and is one away from winning the John McEnroe group.

  16. Post update

    Andrew Castle

    BBC Sport tennis commentator

You can never take your eyes off Stan Wawrinka. He can fire down a few aces and drag himself back into the match but that seems unlikely now. This has been Andy's best performance of the week so far.

  17. Post update

    *Murray 6-4 4-1 Wawrinka

Wawrinka holds - much needed. This is not as close as many expected.

They came into the contest with Murray 9-7 on head to heads. The Brit is playing on another level, from the level he was previously playing at... which was another level.
