  1. Synchro's national centre plans

Synchronised swimming is gaining a foothold in Britain - membership has almost doubled in the last two years - and Swim England is looking to build on that with the launch of the Synchro City Project in March is the next step for the sport.

Swim England has partnered with the University of Bristol and Clifton High School to start up a regional excellence centre to help athletes to train and study at the same time.

"The model is underpinned by community, club and regional activity to grow the sport, increase the talent pool and provide a high quality training environment for our top athletes," said Swim England's National Development Officer Sarah Darragh.

The aim is to have the scheme running by September 2021 with the hope that other centres can be developed across Great Britain.

Synchro has also been awarded funds from the UK Sport Aspiration fund and this has meant the target of getting a GB Duet qualified for the Tokyo Olympics has received a boost.

"This is having a positive impact on the whole sport," Darragh told BBC Sport. "We can see how even a small level of investment could make all the difference to the future of British Synchro."
