    Olympic champion Adam Peaty and his Rio medal-winning team-mates are bidding to reach the 2017 World Championships as they compete in Sheffield at the British Swimming Championships.

    Peaty - Britain's first male Olympic swimming gold medallist for 28 years - begins his campaign on today, the opening day of the GB Championships.

    Fellow individual Rio medal winners Jazz Carlin and Siobhan-Marie O'Connor will also race in the six-day event.

    "I've been training well and I'm ready to swim fast again," said Peaty.

    The British Swimming Championships 2017 is the highlight of the national swimming events calendar.

    As British Swimming enters a new Olympic cycle, athletes who shone at Rio 2016 will be taking to the pool again for the title of British Champion, as well as there being a new focus on the next group of athletes looking to rise to the challenge and take the top performances.
