Every time he looked like being challenged he pulled away again. He's a snooker player for all ages.

I never thought we'd be seeing him like this when he was 17 years old wining his first UK Championship, but here he is 25 years later and still the man to beat.

    John Parrott

1991 world champion on BBC Two

I honestly think there's another World Championship in there.

We watched him in the practice room the other day and he's still loving the sport and you can see by the joy on his face what it means, it meant a lot to him.

  8. Post update

Now he's on a lap of honour, fist-bumping more of the front row. Remember, it is 25 years since he first won this title. What a champion.

  9. Post update

O'Sullivan climbs on to the edge of the arena to celebrate closer to the audience. They are all on their feet.

He then jumps into the front row to pose for selfies. Is there anyone more popular in their sport than Ronnie O'Sullivan?

Massive applause for Mark Allen, who jokes that he hopes Ronnie O'Sullivan does form his own breakaway tour.
