  1. Until next week!

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

That's all folks, be sure to check out Becky Grey's match report right here.

And there's more international rugby live-texting to come today as South Africa host Wales at 16:05 BST and Argentina face Scotland at 20:10 BST.

England and Australia now have a week to recover until they meet again in the second Test in Brisbane. We'll see you then!

  2. 'England will come back harder'

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

Australia head coach Dave Rennie speaking to Sky Sports:

"I'm really proud. We lost so many players before the first half. I am really pleased with the character and the problem solving in the second half playing with one less. A really good 38 minutes in the second half.

"We're a tight group and I think our leaders did really well problem-solving on the pitch.

"We know England are a lot better and will come back harder next week.

"There are plenty of things to tidy up for us."

  3. 'We should have put it away'

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

England head coach Eddie Jones speaking to Sky Sports:

"We had enough moments in the game to win it. At 14-9 with 20 minutes to go we should have put it away.

"The reaction from the boys is to win this series 2-1. We have to go again.

"In some ways the red card can work against you. Sometimes the referee wants to compensate. We didn't adjust as well as we should have.

"The message at half-time was to keep putting pressure on them and we did that in spurts. We lost the ball twice on their try-line and we didn't do that, whereas Australia did.

"We need to work on our finishing and a bit on our defence as well.

"There are still some positives to come from what has been a very disappointing result for us."

Sash: Losing this heavily to a team down to 14 men must rank amongst our worst defeats of all time...

  5. 'It's bittersweet'

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

England debutant and try scorer Jack van Poortvliet speaking to Sky Sports:

"Bit of a weird one coming on knowing the game was gone. I am very grateful for the opportunity and thankful for my friends and family. It's bittersweet.

"It's been a hectic couple of weeks, I could not have imagined this.

"The focus is now to win this series 2-1.

"I've been welcomed into the group and things. We're a tight group and hopefully this is just the start."

  6. Post update

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

There were plenty of positives for England and 10 minutes into the second half I thought the tourists were going to run away with things. Eddie Jones is about to talk to the media by the way.

Fraser: Whilst this string of results for England is funny. It is important to note that in the run up to a RWC England play a very limited attack so that they don’t get figured out (see Ireland 2018-19). Should England fans be disappointed? Yes but to sack Eddie now is stupid.

Paul: What's wrong with losing by 2 pts. It's often a landslide!

Nicholas: Catastrophising a bit aren’t we? If Farrell had nailed that conversion it would have been a draw.

  8. 'Australia were brilliant'

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

England prop Ellis Genge speaking to Sky Sports:

"I think they were the better team to be honest. Our discipline was poor, you can't give that much away against a team like this.

"There were positives at the end with our new boys. It shows the calibre of players we have in the squad.

"We had two yellow cards so we played the game with a man less for 20 minutes as well. But that's no excuse.

"Sometimes, when you lose a leg like that you grow a bit. That's what we've seen. I thought Australia were brilliant."

Theo: England losing to 14 man Australia... Eddie Jones has to go. The team is not progressing at all.

Chris: I said two weeks ago England wouldn't win a test. Do those last two tries change my mind? Don't think so.

John Ireland: About time Eddie's replacment was seriously looked for

  10. Post update

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

    Let's talk about Australia.

They hadn't beaten England since 2015 and had lost each of their past eight matches against their rivals.

When England went ahead in the second half there only seemed to be one result. Somehow, with a player less and with all their injuries, they managed turn this game on its head.

  11. 'England will be a different beast next week'

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

Australia captain Michael Hooper speaking to Sky Sports:

"It's part of the game, like the other two yellows England received. It's part of the game, teams have to learn to deal with them.

"We'll break down the game, look at where we can improve. We know there will be a different beast coming and we're expecting to improve as well."

Saint Alastair: Start some of these subs next week. Playing with the freedom that’s been lacking all game. Arundell such an exciting talent. Time for a few of the old guard to depart?

  13. 'Our defence let us down'

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

England captain Courtney Lawes speaking to Sky Sports:

"Very disappointing obviously. We came with a strategy that we didn't execute and they were the better team."

[On Darcy Swain's red card] "It is what it is. If you do that nowadays you get a red.

"We had a pretty solid strategy coming out. We spoke about discipline and that let us down.

"We played good rugby but our defence let us down today. We had some good chances but were light on the scorecard.

"There are plenty of good things to come. It's time to right our wrongs, the main thing for us will be discipline and to work on our defence."

  14. 'Deflating performance from England'

    FT: Australia 30-28 England

    Ugo Monye

Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been poor. England will be so disappointed and the fans massively so.

There was a lot of positivity about this team but to see this performance I am deflated. I expected a lot more but the boys did not perform.

David: We lost by two points. Farrell missed a penalty and a conversion. By such small margins…

SAFCPete: Can anyone see any improvement recently under Eddie Jones ? Probably the best resourced team in world rugby yet this is what we deliver. A disorganised mess.

John: It's embarrassing to see us lose to 14 men Australia, time for Eddie to go!

Peter: It's "Reset" time ... new management, out with the old "reliable" players and get some new blood in sharpish, otherwise we're going to be made to look silly at the World Cup.

Jonathon: Even by England’s dismal recent standards, this is extraordinarily inept. Time to talk about Eddie...

  17. Full-time

    Australia 30-28 England

But England's comeback always started too late.

Somehow Australia have won this game. The pressure continues to mount on Eddie Jones.

  18. Try - Australia 30-28 England

Jack van Poortvliet con Owen Farrell

Another debutant goes over as youngster Jack van Poortvliet finishes nicely. A great moment for England's new boys.

    Farrell's kick is good.

  19. Post update

    Australia 30-21 England

Amazing! Henry Arundell breaks through again and gets to within two metres.

It won't change the result, but what a statement.

  20. Yellow card

    Australia 30-21 England

Game not over yet as Noah Lolesio is given a yellow for a deliberate knock on.
