  1. Post update

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Close, but no cigar.

The wait goes on for Scotland's next win in Paris.

Vern Cotter's side, unhampered by injury, are a match for anyone though.

They will resume with a home match against Wales in a fortnight's time.

    See you there.

  2. 'France building momentum'

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Thomas Castaignede

Former France international on BBC One

It is always hard to go and play in Ireland. They never stopped against Italy, even after they had scored five, six tries...they wanted more.

So it will be a test for France, but after the performance against England we feel that anything is possible.

  3. Post update

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Mike Blair

    Former Scottish international scrum-half

Wales in a couple of weeks time will offer something a bit different, it will be a good test for Scotland and it's one I'm looking forward to.

  4. Post update

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Tim Swinson

Scotland lock and try scorer Tim Swinson speaking on the BBC Red Button:

"I was in the right place at the right time for the try, it's something we work on at Glasgow.

"I think you can see when guys are struggling on the pitch. I was ready to go when called upon.

"It wasn't a great day at the office for us at the scrum, but we also showed we could recover and we can take that into the game with Wales.

"I think one of the things we mentioned afterwards was how well we defended in the last five minutes to earn the losing bonus point. We can build on that, but we need to get slightly better at the maul too."

  5. Hogg making bacon once more

    France 22-16 Scotland

Full-back Stuart Hogg was again lively for Scotland, adding yet another try to his game-high 81 metres while also beating the most defenders for Scotland - five - and making the most clean breaks for the visitors with two.

  6. Post update

    FT: France 22-16 Scotland

    Vern Cotter

Scotland head coach Vern Cotter speaking on the BBC Red Button:

"It was a physical encounter. Quite a few times we came off second best.

"The boys stuck in defensively and defended our line well.

"But a couple of times maybe we weren't accurate enough."

On Greig Laidlaw's injury: "Greig has a big part to play as the captain and the half-back, but these things do happen and we had trained for it. There are other things we can look at to improve on in the next game."

On Finn Russell's missed conversion: "It was only two points and it didn't really matter. At the end it was a six-point game."

  7. Six Nations table

    France 22-16 Scotland

After two rounds, this is how the table looks.

England with a clear lead, but tighter that a front row's thigh tape in midtable.

  8. Big man, big game

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Louis Picamoles celebrates

France number eight Louis Picamoles had another huge match to back up his impressive performance in the opening-weekend defeat by England.

The Northampton player was the leading French metre maker with 73, equal top carrier with 11, beat the most defenders with six and topped the offloads chart with four.

  9. Post update

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Mike Blair

    Former Scottish international scrum-half

Scotland were unfortunate that a lot of their replacements were enforced, that played a part as well. For France, the replacements were far more tactical.

  10. Post update

    France 22-16 Scotland

  11. 'Laidlaw a loss'

    FT: France 22-16 Scotland

    Mike Blair

    Former Scottish international scrum-half

    Greig Laidlaw goes off injured

Greig Laidlaw has been a massively influential player for Scotland over the past four seasons so his injury early on was always going to have an impact.

At the end, when the set-piece becomes such a big part of it, Greig Laidlaw may well have had an influence over the team.

Alex Robertson: I won't lie, I'm gutted we didn't win that one but the lads played a blinder and that's the main thing. Bring on Wales!

Yoann Huget offers commiserations to Huw Jones

There was a lot of good stuff from Scotland today. They were up against a huge defence today. So, an awful lot of good, but ultimately they lost it.

This is where Scotland are at the moment, they have the confidence and ability to win games now. They didn't today, but it will come.

  16. Post update

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Scott Spedding

France full-back Scott Spedding speaking on BBC One:

"It was a scrappy affair and we made a lot of mistakes in the first half. We couldn't get our game plan into place.

"But we desperately needed a win, and we can build on that.

"It could've gone either way at the end but we were really lucky to sneak away.

"We are disappointed with our performance but happy with the win."

  17. Post update

    France 22-16 Scotland

    Stuart Hogg

Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg speaking on BBC One: "It was tough out there, France really brought it to us, but we chucked it away.

"Our errors cost us in the end. We didn't look after the ball, we didn't respect it and that has cost us.

"Obviously I'm chuffed with the try, but now our next job is Wales in a couple of weeks."
