  1. Edinburgh up and running

    FT: Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Well it wasn't pretty and I suspect the DVD of this one will not be flying off the shelves in the Edinburgh club shop, but Alan Solomons' men are up and running with their first victory of the Pro12 season.

Tries from Michael Allen and Magus Bradbury helped them to victory over the Scarlets, who struggled to break down Edinburgh's resolute defence.

With some tough fixtures coming up this was an important win for Edinburgh, who have stated they want a top four finish this season.

Tomorrow it's Glasgow Warriors' turn as they face Leinster at Scotstoun. That promises to be a tasty affair between two sides who many feel will battle it out for the Pro12 title this season.

Thanks for your company this evening. Plenty more sport coming your way across BBC Sport Scotland this weekend.

  3. FT: Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

    Tom English

    BBC Sport Scotland at Murrayfield

It was a dour game. Edinburgh won it, they clearly deserved to win it. Their forwards were by far and away on top. Their defence was very good when it needed to be.

They scored two tries to nil. Job done.

  4. Full-time

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Nathan Fowles kicks the ball into touch and Edinburgh hold on to claim their first victory of the season.

  5. No try

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

The replays are inconclusive so no try is given. Scrum five to Scarlets.

  6. Try review

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Scarlets drive the maul over the line but it's unclear if they managed to ground the ball.

  7. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Scarlets are really putting Edinburgh under the cosh now.

Hadleigh Parkes carries to within an inch of the line but is repelled.

The ball is spun wide to Steff Evans who looks certain to go over in the corner until Michael Allen bundles him into touch.

However, Allen is ruled to have tackled Evans high and a penalty is awarded.

That looked a nailed-on penalty try. Let off for Edinburgh.

  8. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

    Peter Wright

Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

The Edinburgh head coach has put a game-plan together that is ludicrous.

It's rubbish to watch, it's boring.

  9. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

It's been a second-half littered with handling errors, penalties and a general lack of accuracy on both sides.

If Edinburgh can hang on in these last seven minutes or so for the win though they probably will not care.

  10. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

"We've not seen many, if any, offloads this evening. That is so often the spark that can unlock a defence."

Former Scotland Sevens captain Colin Gregor on BBC Radio Scotland

  11. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Scarlets are done at the breakdown yet again and Duncan Weir kicks Edinburgh into the corner.

The throw is snaffled by the Scarlets though and the danger is cleared.

  12. Post update

  13. Bring on Myreside

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

    The official attendance is 2650.

So just the 64,494 empty seats then....

  14. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Phil Burleigh re-enters the action so Edinburgh are back up to 15.

  15. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

The much-vaunted Scarlets backline looks like it might be belatedly clicking into gear.

Jonathan Davies spins it to Steff Evans coming in off his wing, but Duncan Weir snaffles it at the break down and earns the penalty which eases the pressure on his side.

  16. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

    Terrific defence from Edinburgh.

Scarlets looks to get the rolling maul going into the home 22 from a line-out but Ben Toolis leads the counter as Edinburgh halt the charge and earn the scrummage.

  17. Missed penalty

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Duncan Weir has been imperious with his goal-kicking until now, but he misses his first of the evening with a lengthy effort from just inside the Scarlets half wide on the right.

  18. Post update

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

I'll be hearing Andrew Brace's whistle in my sleep tonight!

    Really scrappy second-half.

  19. Penalty Scarlets (Rhys Patchell)

    Edinburgh 20-9 Scarlets

Rhys Patchell slots home a straightforward penalty goal to bring Scarlets back within 11 points.

  20. Sin-bin Edinburgh (Phil Burleigh)

    Edinburgh 20-6 Scarlets

Edinburgh are no sooner back up to their full compliment following Magnus Bradbury's return from the sin bin than they are back down to 14.

Phil Burleigh sticks a hand into a ruck, is caught and gets a yellow card for his trouble.
