  4. Super League

    FT: St Helens 12-24 Wigan

Warrington are the new leaders at the top-of-the-table after they beat Widnes at home.

Wigan go level with the Vikings on 12 points while St Helens stay fourth.

Wakefield, meanwhile, have moved off the bottom of the table and gone up to 10th after they beat Huddersfield.

  5. Full time

    St Helens 12-24 Wigan

Wigan take the spoils in the Good Friday derby and it was thoroughly deserved.

A top defensive effort laid the foundations and they were much more clinical with ball in hand when near the Saints try line.

St Helens suffer their first lost at Langtree Park this season and have lost three of their opening seven games.

  6. St Helens 12-24 Wigan

What a hit that is from Nick Gregson.

Kyle Amor takes the ball a metre from the line and just as it looks as if he is about to spin and place the ball down, the Wigan ban smashes ball and man to dislodge the ball.

  7. St Helens 12-24 Wigan

Jon Wilkin launches a high kick up and it comes off Dan Sarginson and into Theo Fages.

St Helens have six more tackles to try and find a third try...

  8. St Helens 12-24 Wigan

Well, the video referee then overturns the decision and Wigan have the put in.

Four minutes to go for Shaun Wane's troops to hold out.

  9. St Helens 12-24 Wigan

Wigan's line speed in defence, as you'd expect, is nowhere near what is was at St Helens are enjoying throwing the ball about at the minute.

They have head and feed form a scrum now deep in the Warriors territory.

  10. St Helens 12-24 Wigan

One or two offloads get the crowd excited as Saints try to run their sixth tackle instead of kicking.

Eventually Jack Owens runs out of space and is forced to kick forward and Wigan run it back.

All about closing the game out for the visitors now.

  11. TRY (Fages, con Walsh)

    St Helens 12-24 Wigan

    Theo Fages

The Frenchman has become more influential as the pace has dropped and Theo Fages hits an excellent line through a gap to place down.

That's his first try for Saints and Luke Walsh adds a couple more.

  12. St Helens 6-24 Wigan

A delicate kick through by Theo Fages comes off a Wigan player but St Helens regather.

The home supporters raise the noise levels, they want this scoreline to at least be closer.

  13. TRY (Smith, con Smith)

    St Helens 6-24 Wigan

Luke Walsh appealed he was obstructed by the video referee does not agree and Matty Smith dots down Wigan's fourth.

His first try in 11 months against the side where he started his career. He adds two more from the conversion and surely that is game, set and match now.

  14. TRY REVIEW (Smith)

    St Helens 6-18 Wigan

Matty Smith looks to have got Wigan's fourth but we are just checking for an obstruction in the build-up to it...

  15. St Helens 6-18 Wigan

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook looses the ball as he is tackled by two Wigan players and the visitors have a scrum on the halfway line.

The intensity of the opening 50 minutes has just dipped slightly here.

  16. St Helens 6-18 Wigan

    St Helens v Wigan

Despite that try there is still a subdued atmosphere at Langtree Park.

St Helens are going to have to take some risks here you imagine if they are going to get another couple of scores.

Wigan are heading for a first win at Saints since April 2014.

  17. Results elsewhere

    St Helens 0-18 Wigan

It looks like both Saints and Widnes will meet on Monday on the back of Friday defeats- barring a fightback in this last quarter!

Widnes have lost 28-10 at rivals Warrington, who replace the Vikings at the top of Super League.

Wakefield have dominated Huddersfield - it's finished 36-22 there.

Salford lost 26-12 at home to Catalans - they travel there in about a month's time.

  18. TRY (Greenwood, con Walsh)

    St Helens 6-18 Wigan

Finally, St Helens have the score their efforts deserved.

And how simple it was. Theo Fages takes it to the line, throws it to Joe Greenwood who barges through a defender to cross.

Luke Walsh adds the conversion and is the Hull FC-esque comeback on?

  19. St Helens 0-18 Wigan

None of the big game players yet to really stand up for St Helens.

There is time for them to get back into this but Wigan's defensive has dealt with everything thrown at them so far.

However, they have another penalty close to the Warriors line.

  20. St Helens 0-18 Wigan

Dom Manfredi with another brilliant bit of defence, just as St Helens looks as if they're going to go in out wide.

Saints scrum, though, 12m away from that Wigan try line.
