The chap in the middle here, kindly smiling for a photo, looked in a foul mood when I approached him after spotting his Sebastian Vettel flag.

    Upset because of Vettel's performance?

"No it's my stag do so had to wear this," he said.

That's probably worse than a daft costume at Silverstone. Vettel was booed as he passed pretty much every stand.

  9. Grand chelem news

While we are busy lauding Lewis Hamilton for winning the British GP a fifth time, it's also worth a quick mention that he has in doing so scored his fifth grand chelem.

For those that don't know, this obscure (but very worthy) feat is achieved when a driver takes pole position, sets the fastest lap and wins the race from start to finish.

His fifth grand chelem takes him level with Michael Schumacher and Alberto Ascari in joint second place on the all-time list.

Jim Clark is way out front with eight of the blighters.

  10. Now it rains...

    Gary Rose

    BBC Sport at Silverstone

The umbrellas are up as the rain comes down.

Fans are waiting patiently outside the Mercedes garage for Lewis Hamilton to appear, having missed him surfing the crowd by the start-finish line.

As Hamilton crowdsurfed the television screen above the pits cut to Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen sitting awkwardly with an empty chair between them in the post race news conference.

And so begins the post-race souvenir sweep up.

Most fans are content with bits of discarded rubber but Nathan and Paul here have gone big.

    Straight on the mantelpiece. Maybe.

  14. Vote: Who is the British Grand Prix’s greatest icon?

Don't forget to vote for who you think is the greatest British Grand Prix icon...

Your choices are Lewis Hamilton, Jim Clark or Nigel Mansell.

  15. Love to Martin Brundle

I missed the news from a little earlier that Martin Brundle was taken ill ahead of today's race while working for Sky Sports. The latest reports are that Martin has left the circuit and gave a thumbs up as he went.

Obviously Martin is formerly of this parish so I hope I'm not overstepping my position by wishing Martin a speedy recovery from all of us here at BBC Sport.
