  3. Quick word on Mercedes

167 laps for the Brackley-based team today - 101 of those done by Bottas in a single afternoon.

Quick and, it would seem, bulletproof.

    A potent mix.

  4. Russian GP to remain in Sochi until 2025

A bit of news to bring you as the flag waves...

The Russian Grand Prix is to remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2025, according to the country's deputy prime minister.

Dimitry Kozak told state news agency Tass that organisers have agreed a new contract, which will replace a deal that was due to expire in 2020.

Sochi hosted the first Russian Grand Prix in 2014 on the same site that was used for some of the events at that year's Winter Olympics.

This year's race is on 30 April.

  7. Two minutes to go...

I think it's all over bar the shouting.

  8. Post update

Ten minutes to go and there's still plenty of cars circulating.

Valtteri Bottas is closing in on 100 laps - having only got in the car this afternoon.

    Impressive stuff.

  9. Improvement for Vandoorne

The McLaren is up and running finally and has just moved off the foot of the standings.

Vandoorne does a 1:25.6 on the soft tyre to move ahead of Lance Stroll's Williams, which only completed 12 laps today after sustaining damage this morning.

  10. Post update

  11. Magnussen into P4

Haas' Magnussen is having another go on the supersofts and now he's done a 1:22.204, dropping Ocon to fifth.

  12. Ton up for Raikkonen

Another driver breaks the 100-lap barrier and Raikkonen is the man to do it.

It's been two very good days for Ferrari.

  13. Two-time champions meet

"Seriously, Fernando, that 1998 McLaren was so damn good. Just so quick right out the box...

"Fernando? Fernando? Are you ok? You've glazed over."

  14. Spin for Bottas

This was from the Finn's race-sim run a little earlier. App users my have to click on the link.

  15. Magnussen goes fifth

The supersoft tyre has come up trumps for Haas, you won'd be surprised to hear.

On the grippy rubber Magnussen pops in 1:22.795 to reclaim fifth place from Toro Rosso's Kvyat.

The Dane has also passed 100 laps for Haas today.

  16. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Maybe it's because I know there's a Frenchman lurking under there but Grosjean's helmet has a distinctly Daft Punk-y feel to it.

He'll be in the Haas tomorrow, by the way.

  17. Bottas out again

He's on the medium tyre and lapping sedately in the 1:25s so far.

No Hollywood finale for the Finn.

    Yet.

  18. Post update

  19. McLaren still struggling

Vandoorne has emerged from the pits again for McLaren and has a two-lap recce this time before returning to his garage.

Will they get any meaningful running in before the end of play today?
