  1. Post update

And that niche stat seems as good a place as any to end our coverage of qualifying.

Will Lewis Hamilton nail his start tomorrow and keep the flames of his title challenge flickering?

We'll be live with build up from 18:30 BST tomorrow, hopefully see you then.

  2. Post update

Daniel Ricciardo seems pretty happy with his tyre strategy but he's going to need a good start tomorrow. He's on the super-softs so won't be able to go into the race as far as those around him, who are on softs.

Max Verstappen might well fancy his chances of pipping his team-mate to a place on the podium.

  3. Post update

Jolyon Palmer is finishing the season quite strongly. He out qualified his Renault team-mate Kevin Magnussen again today.

  4. Sorting out the starts

    Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton knows victory is far from assured, and he will know that it could all go wrong for him before the race has really started given his poor starts record.

He's lost the lead from pole position on the first lap in five races this season.

  5. Ricciardo happy with strategy

Daniel Ricciardo, who will start tomorrow's race from third: "Not concerned about strategy. I expected it to be like this.Max wanted to try the softs and for me I wanted to super soft. I was more comfortable on that tyre yesterday. Hopefully it will give me a better launch off line. Not close to Mercedes, we expect them to be hard to beat, but a buffer over Ferrari. We have a good chance tomorrow. We will see what happens. super softs will give me friendly grip off the line."

  6. 'Qualifying not all important'

Nico Rosberg, who will start from second: "There was nothing specific. I preferred sector two and three today and that is it. Lewis was quicker in sector one, that was it. Nevertheless we have seen this year qualifying is not all important and I still have a great chance from P2."

  7. 'I feel amazing'

Pole sitter Lewis Hamilton: "I feel amazing. It is my first pole here. It has been many years of trying. A lot of great people have tried to get me there. Big thanks to the crowd. I could hear them cheer as I crossed the line. I hope tomorrow provide them with great race."

It is Hamilton 1 Rosberg 0. Fantastic performance form Lewis. He loves this track. He built up to that lap from the first lap at Q1. Two tenths of a second over Rosberg is a cracking result.
