Lots of track time lost for Lewis Hamilton there. He managed just four laps. Will it have a negative impact on his chances this weekend? Probably not, but it's still not ideal.

  7. Post update

Daniil Kvyat isn't best pleased with Sergio Perez's antics. The Toro Rosso is behind the Force India and Kvyat think he is being blocked.

"He is being a bit of a *BEEP* today," Kvyat says.

  10. Post update

Good news, Jolyon Palmer fans! The Briton is finally getting back out on track after a long spell in the garage. His first timed lap, a 1:25.352, leaves him down in 22nd place.

I reckon Kvyat's name sound like a Pokemon character. Can't be just me that thinks that?

Anyway, I digress. Kvyat is currently P13 but his Toro Rosso team-mate is out of second practice. He goes off at Turn 1.

"Something at rear. Related to the engine," he reports.

  13. Yellow flag

Problems for Felipe Nasr. There's smoke coming off the front of his Sauber as he is wheeled away to behind the barriers at Turn 2. Then, just after and right behind him, Carlos Sainz spins.

  14. Post update

Fernando Alonso is indeed back out and is making up for lost time with his qualifying runs. He's jumped up to P7 after a 1:22.328 on the supersofts, putting him just ahead of Jenson Button.

The two Red Bulls are going round together on their super soft run, which is a first sting simulation, Daniel Ricciardo faced a lot of questions yesterday about Max Verstappen coming and beating him in recent races. In the race sim runs right now, Verstappen is eighth tenths of a second on average faster than Ricciardo. It looks like Ricciardo has more homework to do.

There was almost a big crash in the pitlane. Sauber released one of their drivers into the path of a Force India. Luckily the Force India was aware of the situation and managed to jump on the brakes and swerve out of the way.

  18. Post update

Just under 30 minutes to go and it looks like Fernando Alonso should be getting back out soon.

  19. Post update

Everyone's completed their qualifying sims so it's long runs time...
