  1. Post update

Right, that's all from us tonight. Match of the Day has just started and you can watch that on BBC One and online here.

    See you later.

  2. 'Football is about scoring goals and we didn't today'

    FT: Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to Sky Sports: " Disappointed of course.

"We were probably not quite as good as we have been recently. We had a decent chance early with Neal Maupay and then gave a poor goal away from our perspective.

"Football is about scoring goals and we didn't do it today. We pushed and pushed, maybe could have got a goal but it was not to be. We needed a bit more quality over the course of the game.

"We are at that stage of the season where everyone is fighting for something, even if it is pride like Sheffield United."

  3. 'We're not safe'

    FT: Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to BBC MOTD: "It's a frustrating result. The performance wasn't probably the level it has been recently.

"We didn't have the quality we can have. When that happens in the Premier League it can be hard. We had some opportunities but it is up to us to do better. It was up to us to create more."

On his side's seven-point safety cushion: "It's not enough because there's a lot of points to play for. We have to just focus on one game at a time. Every opponent is fighting for something."

On the forthcoming social media boycott in the Premier League: "It's a great statement from the whole of football. It's unacceptable. Social media platforms can do more and hopefully this position we're taking can force them to do more."

  4. 'We want to be at this club'

    FT: Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United's matchwinner David McGoldrick, speaking to MOTD: "We are playing for Sheffield United, we can't down tools. Every game we have to make it tough, we are playing for our shirt and playing for our future. We showed we are still in this as a team, even though we have been relegated.

"When they scored I didn't see anything wrong, I didn't see who was offside and then when it came on the screen I saw it was offside. We deserved a bit of luck.

"The pressure is on until the end of the season. We are playing for our future. We know there is a new manager watching somewhere, we are fighting for this club and we want to be at this club. There will be changes and me personally I don't want to be one of them."

  5. MOTD running order

Here's the Match of the Day running order, which is coming up on BBC One and online at 22:20 BST.

  6. 'The players deserve that'

    FT: Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United interim boss Paul Heckingbottom: "The players deserve the utmost credit. We spoke before the game and for them it's justice and the right result for their attitude because its been a tough, tough season.

"You get what you deserve in football and tonight we got the three points. For us it was about being clinical and carrying out the game- plan and doing our jobs.

"We've said all season we have been on top in lots of games but haven't got the goal. To get the first goal was a big difference.

"We know we are a Championship club next season. It doesn't mean we're not going to enjoy these last few games. We might be planning for next season but we looking to pick up points along the way."

  7. BreakingPremier League clubs join boycott to tackle abuse

Premier League, English Football League and Women's Super League clubs will join in a four-day boycott of social media platforms in an effort to combat abuse and discrimination.

The boycott will start on 30 April.

The Football Association, as well as league bodies and other organisations, including anti-discrimination charity Kick it Out, will also be involved.

  8. 'We are still fighting for this club'

    FT: Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United striker David McGoldrick, speaking to Sky Sports: "Just because we are relegated we are not sacking it off. We are playing for our futures.

"It is not many times we have led this season. Brighton are a good team and play some good football. They gave it to us but we showed some reliance.

"We worked hard with bodies on the line. We deserved it. It is good we showed character. We have to be a team, we can't go out there as single players, we have to be a team and we did that.

"Relegation has upset me of course. We care about this club. We are still fighting for the club."

  9. 'Buzzing for the gaffer'

    FT: Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United's Ben Osborn: "It's nice to put the bad run to an end. We were always fairly confident we'd get first goal - something we've struggled to do this season. We thought we could frustrate them the longer game went on because they do like to play nice football.

"The gaffer has come in during tough times and the way he has handled it I'm buzzing for him. We need to get our performances right and go into next season with momentum and a spring in our step."

UnitedWeTalk: Such a shame for Sheffield United! They were a team I expected to do a lot better under Wilder in the Premier League!

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Aaron Ramsdale, Robert Sanchez, Brighton, Sheffield United

All over! Sheffield United claim their fifth Premier League win of the season.

Brighton put the pressure on but couldn't find an equaliser.

  12. Post update

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Maybe Brighton are considerably more concerned than I am as they send goalkeeper Robert Sanchez up for a corner. A glimmer of excitement as he connects his head with the delivery, but it is very much a header by a keeper and no danger for Sheffield United.

  13. Post update

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Not so sure about survival in the balance. The Seagulls are seven clear with five to go. Not safe, granted, but Fulham would need a significant up turn in form to worry them, surely?

SMS Message: Graham Potter to Spurs seems wide of the mark looking at tonight's game. Survival in balance for Brighton. from Craig
  15. Post update

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Four minutes of time added on. Sheffield United have had to withstand a lot of pressure this half but they are almost there.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

A late booking for Enda Stevens as he pulls back Alireza Jahanbakhsh, who then gets up and drives an effort over moments later.

  17. Post update

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

    Paul Heckingbottom, Sheffield United, Brighton

Four minutes to go and Sheffield United are closing in on three points.

It won't do anything in terms of their Premier League status but building confidence going into next season is key.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Oooh this would have been an even better moment for Jose Izquierdo as his strong effort from distance looks to be heading into the top corner but Aaron Ramsdale dives to push away.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

A great moment for Brighton now as José Izquierdo, who hasn't made a first team appearance in two years because of knee problems, comes on for Leandro Trossard.

Yorkshire Steve: Marcus, Mark and Ben (21:19) all make the same mistake in understanding the offside law. The ball does not have to be played forward for a player to be offside. What matters is the position of the attacker when the ball is played. Not the direction of the pass.
