'I'm so proud of them'

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes speaking to BT Sport: "I said to the team I'm so proud of them. The leadership in my group is unbelievable. I don't know how many teams could go down to 10 against Atletico and do what we did.

"I don't think it was about resilience because we already have that - it was about discipline. I thought we were brilliant.

"I always bang on about our character and I think it showed. Everyone tuned in and I thought they were extremely calm [after the red card]."

On Ann-Katrin Berger's two penalty saves: "I think the first one was crucial because it's a time when you might wonder how difficult the evening is going to be. The second penalty we conceded was reckless on our part but Ann and our back four deserved the clean sheet."

A great night for Chelsea and Manchester City in the Champions League.

Their last-16 second legs take place next week.

The Blues are away to Atletico next Wednesday, while City are in action against Fiorentina a day later.

What a result that is for Chelsea.

Chelsea have played about 80 minutes with 10 players here. This has been such a professional job by Emma Hayes' side.

It's still the blues who are doing more running as we enter the final couple of minutes.

Erin Cuthbert boots a ball clear and almost sets Sam Kerr away, but Aissatou Tounkara is back to sweep up the danger.

You can certainly forgive Kerr for not quite having the legs to cause problems from that one at this late stage.

Atletico earn a corner, which is whipped in by Leicy Santos but the referee blows for a foul on Chelsea keeper Ann-Katrin Berger.

Chelsea are within 20 minutes of an excellent result here.

And they're not just sitting back to protect their lead.

Erin Cuthbert burst forward down the left, however her cross is too close to Hedvig Lindahl's goal and the Atletico keeper is able to catch.

A change for Chelsea, as So-yun Ji is replaced by Erin Cuthbert.

Ludmila attempts a shot from the edge of the box as Atletico continue to struggle to produce a chance, but it's easily caught by Ann-Katrin Berger.
