  1. Until next time

Thanks for being with us throughout all the twists and turns of the evening.

Some big results at both ends of the table.

If you missed any of it, you can read full reports right here on our Championship page.

For now - thanks for stopping by.

  2. When we return....

    Championship continues on Friday

That's all for this midweek chunk of Championship action, but don't worry, there's not long to wait until there's more.

Form-horses Cardiff City travel to Huddersfield Town on Friday night and we'll bring you all the action from the John Smith's Stadium across BBC Sport from 19:30 GMT.

On Saturday, there'll also be a full programme of EFL action across the three divisions.

  3. Big night at the bottom

What a night for Rotherham United - not only did they win the south Yorkshire derby but they did so with 10 men and a 96th-minute winner.

Victory at Hillsborough moves the Millers three points from safety with two games in hand on the three sides directly above them.

New Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore was left under no illusions about the size of his survival task as defeat left the Owls seven points from safety.

Wycombe look doomed as defeat at Watford leaves them 12 points adrift of 21st-placed Birmingham.

    Championship table.
  4. Canaries clear at the top

Norwich, Watford, Swansea and Bournemouth are the big winners at the top of the Championship on Wednesday as all four picked up vital victories.

The Canaries beat Brentford to move 10 points clear at the summit, while third-placed Watford saw off bottom side Wycombe to move level with the beaten Bees.

But Andre Ayew's injury-time winner from the penalty spot at Stoke has arguably left Swansea in the driver's seat in the battle for second place, a point behind Brenford and Watford but with two games in hand.

Below that, Bournemouth regained sixth spot, which had briefly been taken off them by Barnsley, with a late winner at Bristol City.

  5. Wednesday's full-time scores

Quite some evening, here's the full-time scores:

    • Norwich City 1-0 Brentford
    • QPR 1-3 Barnsley
    • Watford 2-0 Wycombe
    • Bristol City 1-2 Bournemouth
    • Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Rotherham United
    • Stoke City 1-2 Swansea City
  6. Post update

So, let's remind you of all of this evening's results after that....

    Stoke City 1-2 Swansea City

Well, another late twist on a night of late twists.

Swansea take all three points in controversial circumstances.

It's a win that sees them stay in touch with the top two places, just a point behind Watford and Brentford and with two games in hand.

Stoke are furious and who can blame them?

  8. GOAL: Stoke City 1-2 Swansea City

    Andre Ayew pen (90+6 mins)

Cool as you like from Andre Ayew who sends Angus Gunn the wrong way as he rolls the ball home for the winner!

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

    Late, late drama!!!

Jack Clarke is adjudged to have tripped Kyle Naughton with seconds to play.

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

    Four minutes being added on....

  11. Post update

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

Either side got a winner in them?

We're into the last 60 seconds plus stoppages.

  12. Post update

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

Conor Hourihane with Swansea's latest effort from a free-kick, but he's mishit that as it goes low along the deck rather than over the wall and it's routine this time for Angus Gunn to gather at his feet.

Just under five minutes to play as goalscorer Nick Powell makes way for Jordan Thompson for Stoke.

  13. Post update

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

Angus Gunn makes a superb reaction save from close range as Connor Roberts almost repeats his goal from the first half in carbon copy fashion on the volley from Matt Grimes's cross.

Looked like he'd strayed offside from the replays, but Gunn wasn't to know and just had to react.

  14. Post update

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

Approaching the last 15 minutes and Andre Ayew's attempts to weave his way through the Stoke penalty area are stopped in no uncertain terms by a tough-tackling James Chester.

Stoke also clear a couple of Swansea corners that follow.

    Andre Ayew.
  15. Post update

    Stoke City 1-1 Swansea City

Well, in the meantime, we still have another game going on.

Just over 20 minutes to play in this one and it could still go either way.

Swansea bring on Conor Hourihane in place of Jamal Lowe as they try to get ahead.

    Bristol City 1-2 Bournemouth

Bournemouth are back in the play-off places thanks to Cameron Carter-Vickers' late winner and a Daniel Bentley own goal.

Tyreeq Bakinson gave Bristol City a first-half lead, and the Robins remain in 12th place, 10 points off the play-off places.

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Rotherham United

    Absolute drama in south Yorkshire!

Rotherham players and officials are going wild at the final whistle and who could blame them?

The 10 men win it after being under all sorts of pressure late on and they come away with a huge three points.

Darren Moore's first night as Wednesday boss is a tough lesson.

  18. GOAL: Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Rotherham United

    Freddie Ladapo (90+7 mins)

    Freddie Ladapo.

    OH. MY. WORD!!!

What a dramatic finish to this game at Hillsborough and the 10 men of Rotherham have won it with an absolute stunner from Freddie Ladapo!

Sheffield Wednesday are caught on the counter in the most dramatic of circumstances. A poor corner from Jack Marriott was cleared up field and on the break, it found its way in space to Ladapo who backed himself to hit it on his right from 25 yards out and there was absolutely no stopping it as it found the bottom right corner.

  19. Post update

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Rotherham United

Rotherham with a direct free-kick opportunity just outside Wednesday's box.

    Lewis Wing stands over it....

But he slips as he strikes it and it's an easy gather for Joe Wildsmith.

  20. GOAL: Bristol City 1-2 Bournemouth

    Cameron Carter-Vickers (88 mins)

Could Bournemouth have won this late on?

Cameron Carter-Vickers has given them the lead from a corner after Philip Billing's back-post header hit him on the way in.
