Thanks for joining us this afternoon, and despite the result we hope you enjoyed the coverage. Have a good evening.

More from Stuart McLaren: "Disappointed in the result but really pleased with the performance in terms of the application of the aspects of football that we asked the girls to go and apply.

"I haven't had any contact with the players yet. Knowing as I've got to know them over the past 10 days I know they'll be devastated. They'll be honest that they'll understand how well they've played without being effective in the most important part of game, scoring goals, and the mistakes we've made that led to the goals for Portugal.

"The performance reflects what the team is capable of, they're a threat against anyone at this kind of level, but they have to have conviction to finish off that good play."

    FT: Scotland 0-2 Portugal

Scotland interim head coach Stuart McLaren says: "We battered them 0-2 didn't we? One of the key points for us was to dominate possession but to have a purpose to it. I think the players did that very well. We tried to get round the side of them or create opening and again I thought we did that well. But it was reflective of the campaign that we just didn't have that finishing product often enough in the final third.

Stuart McLaren's post-match press conference has just finished. We will have his comments shortly....

An interesting discussion currently taking place on BBC Sportsound, where former Scotland international Leanne Crichton - who announced her retirement before these two fixtures - says the Scottish FA should have "been more pro-active" in getting a new manager in quickly, with Stuart McLaren taking temporary charge for the games with Cyprus and Portugal.

Quote Message: I'm pretty sure they knew Shelley Kerr was leaving her role. For me it's already taken a wee bit too long. Of course they should have been more pro-active. Regardless of the pandemic or anything that's went on. These are decisions that need to be put in quite quickly.

    Steven Thompson

Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: They need to get the managerial situation sorted out and get a bit of stability back. There will be changes, there has been changes in terms of personnel and you're trying to get new and younger blood into the squad. I would like to see the manager announcement fairly soon. You don't want to get to the World Cup qualifiers and it to be a case of 'the manager is getting to know the players', if they're in soon they can organise training camps and get their ideas across.

    Leanne Crichton

Former Scotland international on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: There is a lot of positives that can be taken from the campaign, even when you look at the players used in the last two games. But the qualifying campaign could and should have been better.
  8. Post update

    FT: Scotland 0-2 Portugal

We're hoping to get reaction from Cyprus as soon as we can.

What will interim head coach Stuart McLaren make of that? Is that a severe blow to his chance of getting the job on a permanent basis?

Was six changes from Friday's win too many to make? Was one substitution during the game not enough?

    Leanne Crichton

Former Scotland international on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: Games are won and lost in both boxes and we've not been clinical enough and we've not defended well enough. The girls will be furious, they'll be scratching their heads, but it's the same old story. To go four qualifying games without scoring is quite concerning.

    Scotland 0-2 Portugal

It's a fourth defeat in five games for Scotland, and in each defeat they have failed to score.

A very different performance from Friday's 10-0 demolition of Cyprus.

A goalkeeper error handed Ana Capeta the opening goal, but Scotland rarely looked like scoring in the second half despite having the bulk of the ball, and Fatima Pinto adds a second for Portugal who now do the double over Scotland in the group.

    Fatima Pinto

And it's a late second for Portugal.

Rachel Corsie kicks the cross into the air, Jen Beattie attempts to head clear, but it lands kindly for Fatima Pinto who takes it first time and thumps it down the middle.

  14. CLOSE!

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

As close as Scotland have come.

Caroline Weir's corner is punched away. Claire Emslie puts it back into the mixer and Jen Beattie rises for the header about a yard from goal, but heads wide under pressure from the defence.

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Some late pressure from Scotland. Martha Thomas knocks the ball down into the box but Portugal are able to get it away for a corner kick.

Another cross comes in which Lucy Graham goes for, but again Portugal defend it well.

  16. Post update

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Scotland are fortunate not to concede a penalty.

Jen Beattie goes in on Jessica Silva, gets nowhere near the ball, and although the Portuguese players drops rather easily it was a strong case for a spot kick.

  17. YELLOW CARD - Claire Emslie

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Claire Emslie is booked after a challenge on the goalkeeper.

Emslie appeared to have pulled out of the challenge, her leg merely brushed the goalkeeper, who rolled along the floor and is now getting treatment.

  18. Post update

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Scotland's first change of the game.

Sam Kerr makes way for Kirsty Hanson, who scored her first goal for Scotland on Friday against Cyprus.

  19. Post update

    Scotland 0-1 Portugal

Martha Thomas stoops low and reaches a cross, but her header is comfortably saved by the goalkeeper. A difficult one for the forward to take.
