  1. Goodnight

Well, it's been another lively evening in the Championship that saw 13 goals go in.

Thank you for joining us tonight, we'll be back on Saturday with more action from the English Football League.

    Have a good evening.

Norwich celebrate victory over Nottingham Forest
  2. Meanwhile at the bottom

Wycombe's defeat away at Barnsley combined with Derby's goalless draw at Brentford means the Chairboys drop a place to 21st as the Rams climb into 22nd.

Nottingham Forest remain in 21st position despite their loss to Norwich.

  3. How it looks at the top

Here's how the top of the Championship table looks after this week's round of midweek fixtures.

  4. Wednesday's Championship results

    • Preston North End 3-0 Middlesbrough
    • Barnsley 2-1 Wycombe Wanderers
    • Brentford 0-0 Derby County
    • Bristol City 1-0 Blackburn Rovers
    • Norwich City 2-1 Nottingham Forest
    • Reading 1-2 Birmingham City

    Brentford 0-0 Derby

    Wayne Rooney

Andre Wisdom is called into action for Derby late on as he closes down an Ivan Toney attack and the Rams hold on for a point against Brentford.

Wayne Rooney's unbeaten run as interim boss of Derby continues.

    Barnsley 2-1 Wycombe

History repeats itself at Oakwell as Barnsley win by the same scoreline as they did when they beat Wycombe in February 2019.

On that occasion, Cauley Woodrow scored twice, but tonight one was enough, put away from the penalty spot after a foul on Luke Thomas.

The Chairboys slip to second-bottom and still have only two wins this season.

    Reading 1-2 Birmingham

The 10-men of Birmingham hold on to take all three points.

Birmingham were two up at the break thanks to a brace from Jon Toral, Yakou Meite pulled one back for Reading and they had the chance to level things up from the spot which saw Blues skipper Harlee Dean shown a second yellow card for the challenge but Lucas Joao missed his penalty.

That's back-to-back wins both away from home now for Birmingham whilst the Royals' four-game unbeaten run comes to a halt.

  8. Post update

    Reading 1-2 Birmingham

We're deep into SIX minutes of added time and Reading come so close to that leveller but Lucas Joao's clipped effort goes agonisingly wide for the Royals.

Norwich go top of the Championship as they defeat Nottingham Forest.

Forest, meanwhile, sink to another defeat.

    Bristol City 1-0 Blackburn

    Famara Diedhiou and Dean Holden

Famara Diedhiou comes off the bench to nick it for Bristol City.

Blackburn's seven-game unbeaten run in the league comes to an end.
