  1. Rooney's Rams woes continue

    Wayne Rooney

It was another chastening night for rookie Derby caretaker boss Wayne Rooney.

The Rams fell to a thumping 3-0 defeat at Middlesbrough to remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

Co-caretaker Liam Rosenior said he could not "defend anything about their display", which saw Rooney play the full match.

The Rams are now six points adrift of safety and need to do something swift if they're to avoid a possible relegation to the third tier for the first time since 1984.

We'll be back on Friday night with live text of the London derby between Brentford and QPR.

Thanks for your company and enjoy the rest of your evening.

  2. Breathing space for Coventry

    Bottom of the Championship

At the other end of the table, Coventry's much-needed win over Cardiff moves them three points clear of the relegation zone.

That result was the last thing bottom-of-the-table Derby wanted to hear after they got back to the dressing rooms at the Riverside.

A first point under Tony Pulis is a positive for Sheffield Wednesday but they have plenty of work to do to climb out of trouble.

  3. Boro big winners in hunt for top six place

    #bbcefl

    Race for play-offs

It's as you were in the Championship play-off places after all four sides drew this evening.

Bristol City's point against Watford means they close the gap on second-placed Bournemouth slightly to two points.

Middlesbrough are the night's big winners as their thumping of Derby moves Neil Warnock's men to within two points of the top six.

  4. Wednesday's results

That's the end of the midweek EFL action so let's just quickly recap how the Championship games finished on Wednesday:

    • Middlesbrough 3-0 Derby
    • Millwall 1-1 Reading
    • Bristol City 0-0 Watford
    • Coventry 1-0 Cardiff
    • Swansea 1-1 Sheff Weds
  5. FULL-TIME

    Swansea 1-1 Sheff Weds

Andre Ayew's equaliser earns Swansea point after Adam Reach had given Wednesday the lead in the first half.

The Owls remain in the relegation zone.

  6. Post update

    Swansea 1-1 Sheff Weds

    Late drama!

A Swansea corner causes chaos in the Wednesday box and just as Kasey Palmer hooks an overhead kick into the Owls net the referee blows up for an infringement.

  7. FULL-TIME

    Coventry 1-0 Cardiff

    Tyler Walker celebrates

Tyler Walker's goal ends a run of no wins in three games for Coventry, who remain just above the drop zone as they go level on points with Rotherham and Nottingham Forest.

Defeat for Cardiff means that the Bluebirds are now winless in their last three outings.

  8. SUBSTITUTION

    Coventry 1-0 Cardiff

Late sub for Coventry as keeper Marko Marosi is forced off with an injury and Ben Wilson replaces him.

  9. FULL-TIME

    Bristol City 0-0 Watford

Honours even between these two promotion hopefuls.

Not a massive amount to add.

  16. GREAT SAVE!

    Bristol City 0-0 Watford

Brilliant, fingertip save from Bristol City goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

He shows super reaction to tip Domingos Quina's powerful shot over the crossbar.

  17. Post update

    Swansea 1-1 Sheff Weds

Yan Dhanda nearly puts the hosts in front from distance but his effort flies just wide.

  18. Post update

    Bristol City 0-0 Watford

    Troy Deeney in action

Watford bring on experienced striker Troy Deeney for Andre Gray.

Can he break the deadlock in this one?

  19. SUBSTITUTION

    Coventry 1-0 Cardiff

Cardiff boss Neil Harris needs a response from his side and he has turned to his bench.

Off come Junior Hoilett and Josh Murphy to make way for Robert Glatzel and Sheyi Ojo.

  20. Ayew proves his worth

    Swansea 1-1 Sheff Weds

    Gareth Vincent

BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

Ideally Steve Cooper would probably have preferred not to use Andre Ayew tonight after his recent muscle injury.

But having seen his team fail to lay a glove on Sheffield Wednesday in the first half, Cooper sent on his biggest hitter at the break.

Ayew needed only 15 minutes to deliver, working the ball onto his left foot before curling a shot into the far corner.

Wednesday were comfortable in the first half, but Swansea have been much better since the break.
