  1. A right Royal Saturday for Reading

Seven games into the Championship season and Reading are five points clear at the top.

Veljko Paunovic's men eased to a 3-0 win over Rotherham thanks to a double from Yakou Meite and one from Lucas Joao.

Watford and Bournemouth shared the points in the game's early kick-off after a late, late leveller from Chris Mepham and Bristol City needed a penalty from Nahki Wells to draw 1-1 with Swansea City.

At the bottom, Sheffield Wednesday remain on -4 points after a defeat by Luton and Wycombe are still pointless after a late 2-1 defeat at Wycombe.

In League One, Lincoln went top with a 1-0 win over Ipswich and Newport lead the way in League Two after a thumping 3-0 win at Bradford City.

Thanks for your company today and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  2. How it stands

Here's what today's results have done to the top of the Championship...

    Top of Championship

Reading are sitting pretty after a sixth win in seven, having conceded just one league goal.

Draws between Bristol City and Swansea and Watford and Bournemouth today have helped the Royals pull clear.

Norwich move into the play-off places after beating struggling Wycombe.

  3. League Two full-time headlines

    • Newport County go top of League Two with a 3-0 win at Bradford City, as Cambridge are held at home by Bolton Wanderers.
    • Forest Green Rovers go fourth after beating Morecambe, while Walsall draw at Barrow to remain unbeaten.
    • Bottom side Southend United lose at Tranmere Rovers to remain winless.
  4. League One full-time headlines

    Lincoln City
    • Lincoln City go top through Jorge Grant's penalty against Ipswich
    • Hull City lose 2-1 at home to Peterborough and drop to third, with Posh going second.
    • Sunderland's unbeaten start to the season comes to an end with a 3-1 home defeat by Portsmouth.
    • Charlton claim a 2-0 win at Northampton and Rochdale take all three points with a 2-1 win at Shrewsbury.
    • Crewe win 2-1 at Doncaster thanks to a winner from Harry Pickering.
  5. Championship full-time headlines

    Reading celebrate
    • Unbeaten Reading are five points clear at the top of the table after a 3-0 home win over Rotherham
    • Bristol City draw 1-1 at home against Swansea, with Nahki Wells equalising for the Robins from the spot
    • Norwich move into the top six courtesy of a 91st-minute winner against Wycombe, who remain without a point
    • Stoke beat Brentford 3-2 as Blackburn thrash 10-man Coventry 4-0

    Huddersfield 1-2 Preston

Back to back wins for Preston thanks to a quickfire double from Alan Browne at the start of the second half after Frazier Campbell gave Huddersfield the lead.

The Terriers who had Naby Sarr sent off had come into this game winning three of their past four.

    Norwich 2-1 Wycombe

Mario Vrancic's late free-kick denies Wycombe a first point of the season.

It's now seven straight defeats for the Chairboys in their first-ever campaign in the Championship, while it's three wins on the bounce for Norwich.

  8. RED CARD (Adam Idah - Norwich)

    Norwich 2-1 Wycombe

Adam Idah is heading down the tunnel for a... late bath.

It was for a raised arm in an areal challenge.

    Cardiff 1-1 Middlesbrough

Honours even in south Wales as Boro boss Neil Warnock has to settle for a point on his return to his former club.

    Stoke 3-2 Brentford

Stoke hang on to make it five unbeaten despite a late rally from Brentford.

    Sheff Wed 0-1 Luton

Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu's goal wins it for the Hatters against 10-man Wednesday.

The Owls remain on -4 points after starting the season with a 12-point deduction.

    Bristol City 1-1 Swansea

Nahki Wells scores a late penalty to give Bristol City a draw against Swansea.

    Coventry 0-4 Blackburn

Blackburn thrash Coventry at St Andrew's.

    Reading 3-0 Rotherham

The Royals are heading five points clear at the top of the Championship after a sixth win from seven games.

Their best start to a season since 1985-86.

  15. GOAL: Norwich 2-1 Wycombe

    Mario Vrancic (90+1 mins)

Joy for Norwich, heartbreak for Wycombe

Substitute Mario Vrancic curls in a superb free-kick into the top right-hand corner.

Wycombe's wait for a first point looks set to continue.

  16. GOAL: Reading 3-0 Rotherham

    Lucas Joao pen (90+3 mins)

Lucas Joao bags a late third from the penalty spot after the sub was tripped after getting in between Richard Wood and Michael Ihiekwe.

Ihiekwe went into the book for the foul.

    QPR 0-0 Birmingham

    This one ends goalless.

    Millwall 1-1 Barnsley

The points shared at The Den, as Barnsley remain without a league win in 2020-21.

That's four draws in their first seven games for the Tykes, who were watched by new head coach Valerien Ismael.

  19. GOAL: Stoke 3-2 Brentford

    Marcus Forss (90+1 mins)

    Oh my.

A poor back-pass gives Brentford hope of a point during injury time.

Marcus Forss latches onto the ball back to the keeper, goes round Adam Davies and finishes from a tight angle.

    Reading 2-0 Rotherham

Reading midfielder Michael Olise rattles the bar with a late free-kick - Rotherham keeper Jamal Blackman might have got fingers to that one.
