  1. Cheerio

I'm going to sign off now on what has been a good night for Rangers and Celtic.

The Ibrox side made light work of a tricky looking tie in the Netherlands, while the Scottish champions left it late against stubborn opposition in Latvia.

The Old Firm pair are one game away from the group phase, while Aberdeen and Motherwell could not upset the odds away from home.

Look out for reaction from Steven Gerrard and Derek McInnes on the site and thanks for your company this evening.

  2. What next?

All of the teams in action tonight will resume Premiership duties on Sunday.

Celtic are at home to Hibernian, Motherwell host Rangers and Aberdeen go to Ross County.

On Saturday, we have Hamilton v Dundee United, Livingston v St Johnstone and St Mirren v Kilmarnock.

As ever, we'll have it all covered.

  3. McGregor lays down an impressive marker

    FT: Willem II 0-4 Aberdeen

Allan McGregor was like a man possessed in goals for Rangers.

The 38-year-old pulled off some terrific saves and the close-range stop he made before Vangelis Pavlidis knocked in the rebound with his arm has to be seen to be believed.

Jon McLaughlin has been keeping him out in domestic games since an early season injury briefly sidelined the veteran but he has made a very strong case for a return.

  4. 'Comfortable for Rangers'

    FT: Willem II 0-4 Rangers

    Billy Dodds

Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: It was a really comfortable night for Rangers. They can add another clean sheet and they should take real credit for this result against a decent side.
  5. 'Not enough quality from Dons'

    FT: Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller

Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: Aberdeen's game plan was clear, to frustrate Sporting, but the early goal really didn't help that. Tactically tonight Aberdeen were good but the quality just wasn't there going forward.

  6. On to the play-off round...

So, Celtic and Rangers progress and Aberdeen and Motherwell fall by the wayside.

    Not a huge surprise.

Now we can look forward to a couple of cracking play-off ties next week.

Rangers will be at home to Turkish giants Galatasaray, while Celtic will be away to Sarajevo in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Will both sides of the Old Firm make it to the group stage?

  7. FULL-TIME Willem II 0-4 Rangers

Rangers cruise into the play-off round in style.

It ended a rout and that's thanks to some superb saves from Allan McGregor and fine creativity from Ryan Kent at the other end.

It was a clinical and professional performance from Steven Gerrard's side and it ended comfortably despite some dangerous moments from Willem II.

  8. FULL-TIME Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

It's all over in Lisbon and Aberdeen are once again out of the Europa League before the group phase.

A defensive lapse gave Sporting the lead on eight minutes and it was a lead they never looked like relinquishing.

  9. Post update

    Willem II 0-4 Rangers

Rangers are seeing this game out and it's credit to Allan McGregor that this game has ended so comfortably. The Dutch side still look dangerous going forward but the keeper is determined to keep a clean sheet, punching clear from under his crossbar.

  10. Post update

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

Stoppage time now and Aberdeen can't get a hold of the ball as the hosts manage the last few minutes with cool heads.

  11. Post update

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

There are lots of red shirts forward now and the ball is getting lumped into the Sporting penalty area but the home side stand firm without too much fuss.

  12. Post update

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

Was that the chance Aberdeen have been waiting for?

Ryan Hedges has a lash but his effort curls off target.

We're edging close to 90 minutes, will the Dons get a better glimpse of goal?

    Willem II 0-4 Rangers

The Dutch side have the ball over the line, but the linesman flags for a handball. It was bundled in after yet another cracking save from Allan McGregor.

Has he done enough to win his place back? A big decision for Steven Gerrard.

  14. 'We matched them for long periods' - Robinson

    FT: Beer Sheva 3-0 Motherwell

Motherwell put in a valiant effort in Israel this evening, dominating at some stages but guilty of not taking their chances, and manager Stephen Robinson has been expressing his frustration post-match despite feeling a sense of pride.

"We had so much of the game, we were so disciplined and organised," says Robinson.

"We had chances. We done ever so well at times, but at that this level we concede from two set plays which is so disappointing.

"We certainly matched them for long periods. Unfortunately we were a little bit naive with things."

  15. A well earned rest for Kent

    Willem II 0-4 Rangers

Ryan Kent is now off for Rangers as Jordan Jones comes on. Kent has been involved in almost everything for Rangers going forward. Winning the penalty, scoring the second and crossing to Filip Helander for the third. A great performance from the winger.

  16. Post update

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

A deflected cross from Ryan Hedges falls the way of Marley Watkins but the striker is slow to react and the ball runs out for a corner.

  17. Post update

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

Dons keeper Joe Lewis has to move off his line swiftly to block at the feet of Wendel as Sporting pick a big hole in the heart of a tiring defence.

  18. GOAL Willem II 0-4 Rangers

    Connor Goldson

    Rangers goal

    A third Rangers defender scores.

This time it's Connor Goldson, who heads home a corner delivered by James Tavernier.

Goldson towers highest to crash the ball into the back of the net and what looked at one point to be a tricky tie has turned into a rout.

  19. McGregor makes his presence felt

    Willem II 0-3 Rangers

Allan McGregor with another save, this time gathered more comfortably from a long-range effort.

But that experience Steven Gerrard alluded to before the match has been pivotal to getting Rangers into the position they find themselves in at the moment. The veteran has pulled off some big saves against a pacey and creative WIllem II side.

  20. 'Hayes has to do better'

    Sporting 1-0 Aberdeen

    Willie Miller

Former Scotland defender on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: Hayes has got to do better there. He might have had too many options available to him. He ends up going for goal but far more accuracy is required from that angle.
