  1. Post update

    PL table

It's going to go right down to the wire in the race for the top four.

Have a read of the report

We are back on Tuesday as Chelsea look to cement their place against already relegated Norwich.

    Until then.

  2. 'We were a bit unlucky but that's football'

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, speaking to MOTD: "It was an exciting game of football. It was a good game but I didn't enjoy the last touch of the ball. When you are in the 96th minute and one man down with Brandon having to come off - we were a bit unlucky there but that is football for you.

"It was never going to be an easy game and I think it showed we never got the rhythm in our passing.

"You are never going to just play against teams that will give you the ball. It is two teams, they created problems for us and we created problems for them.

"You just have to take it, we have been a great run, get the disappointment out of our heads and go again for the next game.

"The players get a wake up call every day. We give them every detail about the opposition and they were aware Southampton would be a difficult team."

On Oriol Romeu challenge on Greenwood: "I know my ankle would not like that tackle. I would have been out for a month with that tackle."

  3. 'It was a multidimensional performance'

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to MOTD: "It feels like a win and I am so happy for the boys because they played a fantastic game today. It is important you come here and be brave and have a good start, we had this. Then I had the feeling we were struggling with our physical qualities, we gave them space. We must always double up but in that moment we couldn't.

"We could feel we were tired then from the mind but after the drinks break we tried to stand up again and the boys are doing fantastic at the moment. In the end it was a really deserved point because in the second half we had the better chances.

"I got the answer for what I demand and what we demand for the team. It was a multidimensional performance from our side.

"We had such a difficult September and October. It is not so long ago we were struggling, it was not a nice time and we definitely enjoy taking points from big teams. To play here, if you are not motivated as a player I cannot help you anymore."

  4. Post update

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

Manchester United have lost and drawn a Premier League game at Old Trafford thanks to a goal scored in the 90th minute this season.

In their 519 home games in the competition before this season, they had only drawn one game and not lost any thanks to a 90th minute strike from the opposition.

  5. 'We want to be playing for titles'

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, speaking to MOTD: "Very disappointed. We got ourselves in a great position to win the game but then invited pressure on ourselves by not being very good on the ball. We knew we would have to grind the results out sometimes.

"When you are down to 10 men the one thing you can do is defend set plays, get your head in it and get the ball out of the box but we didn't do that. We can't be doing that if we want to get to where we want to get to.

"The way we try to play and try to build from the back there are times we might get caught on the ball and we have to react quickly. The boys reacted brilliantly. We had numerous chances to finish the game off. The second half we had to be better on the ball, disappointing in the end.

"There is definitely no complacency - great group of lads. We knew it would be a tough game, felt we did enough to win the game but we didn't. Big games between now and the end of the season and hopefully we can get to where we want to get to.

"We want to be playing for titles. I am sure the boys will dust themselves down and we have a big game coming up next."

  6. 'The guys really deserved the point'

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to Sky Sports: "If you stop being brave, stop being on the front foot then you have problems against one on one quality.

"It was a very strong start from my side. We scored and we were really aggressive. I had the feeling we had a little lack pf physical quality at that moment, we were not quick enough. We were leaning back and it is human. You need the whole team to press.

"You give two chances away but then just before half time we got back to our game and then I could feel we were better in the game. We had good possession and good balance and had good chances in the second half. The guys really deserved the point I think.

"We developed our game with the ball extremely in the last few weeks. we are becoming more brave. We are taking more risks. If you take more risks things can happen. We wanted to be brave, we have nothing to lose and we can play free. You can feel the guys really enjoy at the moment."

  7. Tiredness not the case

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was the worst time to concede a goal but it happens in football. We have won so many games in that way. It is all part of the learning for this team. You think you have three points in the bag but we probably didn't deserve three points today. Southampton are a good team, they run, and run and chase. We never got into our rhythm today. We played some fantastic football at times. The two goals we scored were very, very good.

"I don't think tiredness the case. It was just one of those days we did not take our chances and they took theirs. David de Gea had one really good save but apart from that we had the bigger chances but you are not going to be given three points and Southampton are a very good side.

"I know my ankle would not take that challenge (Oriol Romeu on Mason Greenwood), it was a nasty one. We have said enough about VAR.

"We defended well until that corner. It is disappointing but that's football. I know the feeling the other way as well."

  8. 'We are disappointed'

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are disappointed. We got control of the game and had numerous chances to finish the game off. we were not at our best, there are loads of areas we could improve on but we did enough to win the game.

"They were a team with no pressure on them. We knew they would press - they press like mad and jump like mad and we didn't handle it well for the first 20 minutes. We got back into the game but the second half was a bit of a slog, we were not good enough on the ball. We brought pressure on to ourselves but we felt we did enough to win the game.

"We have improved on defending set plays. We had a terrible record at the start of the season but have been really good on them. They can't get in when we have four men around the goal so we'll have to look at it.

"We are disappointed a the moment but we dust ourselves down tomorrow."

  9. 'I knew I could get a goal'

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

Southampton's Michael Obafemi, speaking to MOTD: "Amazing. We got the draw. I am just happy I could get the equaliser.

"It is amazing for me on a personal level but as a team we go anywhere to get three points, we got the one but it was a positive step.

"I was looking on the bench and thinking 'I know I can get a goal!' I kept warming up from the start of the second half.

"The boys dug deep and we got a good result in the end. The boys, we are together. We know what we can do as a team and we just look to pick up as many points as possible and finish as high as possible."

  10. Super Saints

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

Southampton remain unbeaten in both Premier League matches against Manchester United in a single season for the second time, after 2013-14.

  11. 'Game on for top four'

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

    Chris Sutton

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Most people, and quite rightly so with United's form of late, would believe with certainty that they would get that top four spot but still very much game on.

The last 20 minutes Southampton's fitness levels and belief - they just kept going even though they had nothing to play for.

Big implications for the race for the top four.

Southampton are a threat for anybody. They are a superbly capable outfit.

Paul Gourley: Same old story. So much good work and back to square one with another inept performance.

Wale Ibraheem: Just when you thought Chelsea had blown their top 4 chances at Sheffield United, all of their fellow contenders failed to cash-in

  13. Post update

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is overjoyed by that result as he makes his way off the pitch.

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not so.

Two points dropped and fifth doesn't even get you into the Champions League now after Manchester City's verdict earlier today.

    Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

All over, what a cracker it was.

Nathan Marzan: You can't defend like this against a team that have nothing to lose.

Babyboomer: Southampton took the corner, headed the ball on and put the ball in the net. No United player touched the ball. Feeble defence as I have said before.

You have to say, you felt it was coming. Credit to Southampton, the energy levels they have shown. A huge goal for Southampton and implications for Manchester United, who will stay fifth.

  18. GOAL - Man Utd 2-2 Southampton

    Michael Obafemi

James Ward-Prowse swings in the corner, Jan Bednarek flicks it on at the near post and sub Michael Obafemi stretches out a leg at the far post to net in the 96th minute of the game.

Ralph Hasenhuttl almost does a Mourinho by running a few steps down the touchline.

    Obafemi scores
