  1. Final whistle

Linfield have struck another blow in the title race by taking their lead out to six points courtesy of a handsome win against a Ballymena side on the slide.

Tonight's two-point gain on the chasing pack comes after Glentoran could only manage a goalless draw with Carrick Rangers at the Oval.

It's as you were at the other end of the table as Institute grabbed a late equaliser in the bottom-two showdown against Warrenpoint Town.

Larne chalked up a fourth league win on the trot by overcoming Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.

That's all for now but we're back tomorrow for full coverage of the League Cup final between Coleraine and Crusaders.

It promises to be a cracker - see you then.

  2. Gray blasts Warrenpoint's 'horrendous' game management

    Warrenpoint Town 2-2 Institute

Quote Message: I'm gutted. We got one point more than we deserved tonight. Simple as that. Not good enough, in any shape or form. The players will take responsibility for that going into the next few games. Institute played a Warrenpoint side out-of-form, that's no disrespect to them. I'm sure they're delighted to get a point. Wallace got a late goal and we would have been delighted with a smash-and-grab win but our game management was horrendous. The free-kick we gave away for their second goal, you can't get away with that at any level never mind this level. from Barry Gray Warrenpoint Town manager

Quote Message: I thought we were brilliant tonight. It was disappointing to go behind but credit to the players - they were immense in everything they did after that. We fully deserved the three points. from David Healy Linfield manager

Another three points for Larne with goals from Martin Donnelly and Fuad Sule.

Job done for the Invermen, who move to within four points of Cliftonville.

    Glentoran 0-0 Carrick Rangers

There was almost some late drama at the Oval as Daniel Reynolds struck the post in injury-time after being played through by Reece Neale.

Mick McDermott will be frustrated with that performance, but Harry Doherty was outstanding in the Carrick goal to keep the Glens out.

    Ballymena Utd 1-4 Linfield

The champions go six points clear at the top.

An impressive performance from David Healy's men with Mark Haughey, Jordan Stewart, Jimmy Callacher and Andy Waterworth.

The scoreline is a tad harsh on Ballymena but that's a seventh straight league defeat - worrying times at the Showgrounds.

    Warrenpoint 2-1 Institute

Warrenpoint skipper Daniel Wallace scores at the end of a blistering counter-attack!

Point are rapid in turning defence into attack. Wallace pokes a ball out to Ryan Swan, who does well to control it first time. He charges down the right flank and picks out Wallace, whose deft touch is enough to beat Brown and give the hosts a massive goal.

  16. CLOSE!

A huge chance for Institute as substitute Alex Pomeroy races in behind the Warrenpoint defence. He gets to the ball before Buchanan, rounds the keeper but can only drill his shot into the side netting.

  17. GOAL

    Ballymena Utd 1-4 Linfield

Game over. Andy Waterworth smashes in after Joel Cooper's shot is tipped onto the bar by Ross Glendinning.

It's falling apart for Ballymena as they slump to a seventh league defeat on the spin.
