  1. Goodnight

That's the end of this live page now. Thanks for joining us today.

Congratulations to Aston Villa. You can read Phil McNulty's match report from Villa Park here.

Join us tomorrow for the second leg as Manchester United look to overhaul Manchester City's 3-1 first-leg lead.

  2. Leicester's hurt

    Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport at Villa Park

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers didn't stay long in his post-match press conference. He was obviously disappointed at the outcome.

"I am gutted for the players. We were the better side over the two games," he said.

"The players are hurting and will tomorrow as well."

  3. 'Tough to take'

Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester (3-2 agg)

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we were excellent in the game. Their goalkeeper made some outstanding saves.

"We had a nice control in the game. I thought we should have had a definite handball for a penalty.

"By the end of the game I thought only one team looked like they were going to win it.

"It's tough to take looking back over the two games but congratulations to Aston Villa and we have to move on."

  4. 'I'll be a very proud man'

Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester (3-2 agg)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith speaking to Sky Sports: "I certainly let myself go with the goal. That deep onto stoppage time, there was a bit of emotion from everyone and the place erupted.

"Our goalkeeper made three great saves but I thought we were aggressive as well.

"To go and get the win at the death like we did there... To take this club to Wembley, I'll be a very proud man to walk out there with this team."

  5. 'Grealish for England'

    Chris Waddle

Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

You can see why a lot of teams are after Jack Grealish. Some of the passes, his weight of passes and some of the crosses he put in were brilliant.

I'd be really disappointed if he is not in the England squad. I don't see how you can't pick him.

I think he will get a chance. There's no reason why he shouldn't be in the next squad and the team.

  6. 'Villa must repeat this'

    Chris Waddle

Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

If Villa show the commitment and passion they did tonight they will stay up. That's the priority.

Leicester are a top team and Villa have worked their socks off. Villa now have to go and beat the teams around them.

You can't start thinking about a final at Wembley and not getting injured. Get the points on the board.

  7. 'A catalyst'

    Alan Hutton

Former Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Unbelievable. This [pitch invasion] is what it means to the club and the fans. This is hopefully the catalyst for Villa to go on and do well in the league. I really hope this can kick them on.

  9. 'Villa's name on the trophy?'

Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester (3-2 agg)

    Chris Waddle

Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

If you look at the game, Leicester were great in the first 15 minutes and the Villa keeper makes great saves, the tie could have been over.

Villa stuck at it and got a great winner.

I've played in cups and sometimes you play and think 'do you know what, I think our name's on it'. You look back on your cup runs later and think 'how did we win that game?'

    The Villa keeper was brilliant.

  10. 'Through the roof'

Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester (3-2 agg)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland to Sky Sports: "Crazy. Through the roof. Unbelievable.

"The first 15 minutes, they put a lot of pressure on us. The whole team did well. Then we scored with a great attack. We knew the class Leicester have. .

"They scored late so it looked like it was going to penalties but we got the winner in the end."

Was it his best game for Villa?

"Yeah definitely. My best one was the first leg. To do it again was amazing. I always thought of it [whether he would play] since I played the first game but there’s been changes. It was good to get the game and play the way I did. I hope so [he'll start the final]."

  11. Post update

    Chris Waddle

Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

This has been brilliant. Both teams deserve a pat on the back. Villa stuck at it, I thought their legs had gone.

For the Villa fans it's brilliant to be back in the Premier League and go to Wembley.

Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester (3-2 agg)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish on Sky Sports: "It shows what character we’ve got in the team. We were in a sticky patch before Christmas – we couldn’t string four passes together, never mind winning, but we have started the new year in great form.

"This is massive. It's my fifth or sixth time at Wembley with Aston Villa which I'm over the moon at. I love a trip to Wembley. We’re looking forward to it.

"In the first leg we were under so much pressure but today we were brilliant and had the better chances if anything.

"The keeper was great. Everyone was brilliant. Now we’ll concerate on Saturday and try to get ouf of the bottom five."
