  1. Thanks and goodnight

So, Arsenal go through to face Portsmouth in an FA Cup firth round that could see Chelsea face Liverpool and may witness Wayne Rooney face Manchester United with Derby.

    Ifs and buts.

That's it from us for now. We'll be back tomorrow with live coverage of the League Cup semi-final second leg between Aston Villa and Leicester.

    Night all.

  2. Mustafi injury 'not a good sign'

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was asked by a Danish TV channel about the ankle injury which saw Shkodran Mustafi taken off on a stretcher.

"We don't know - we'll have to assess tomorrow but when Mustafi has to come off normally it is not a good sign."

  3. 'Step by step'

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Sport: "Very pleased. Always tough to come here and win, we've done it with a young team as well.

"I have a lot of faith in them. I think they are developing really well. They are willing and hungry and will only get better,

"We analyse opponents and try to generate situations that are favourable for our players.

I was worried with their history in the last few weeks we would concede in the last few minutes.

Our history with this cup is massive for the club. We need to take it step by step.

On transfers: "We are in the market. We are looking for some things with the resources we have and we will tell you when we have more news."

  4. 'We weren't ourselves'

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe: "We're very disappointed. We gave it a good go in the end. It was just a poor start. Tough first half hour and struggled to deal with their movement. We weren't ourselves. But for the last 60 minutes we scrapped and almost got something in the end.

"There were tactical problems for us. We changed system a couple of times But we weren't ourselves out of possession. We were second in the battles. Against quality teams that is what you have to master.

"We talked quite openly at half-time. We weren't happy with what we delivered first half. We passed the ball better and competed better. There were moments there for us but that opening half hour was the difficult part of the match.

"We learn lessons from tonight. Against the big teams you can take things from the game, even if you lose."

  5. 'The Arsenal way'

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Bukayo Saka on BT Sport: "Mikel [Arteta] is tying to bring back the philosophy of the Arsenal way. We did that well n the first half, not so much n the second half.

"I train a lot with Gabriel Martinelli. We speak a lot about how we can beat defenders and get goals."

  6. 'It's a dream to play for Arsenal'

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Eddie Nkeitah on BT Sport: "We started really sharp and played some great football. Towards the end they came back into it and the resilience we showed was excellent.

"It came into me, we've been practicing that in training - I made sure I got into the right place.

"It's nice to be back. I had a great experience at Leeds. It's a dream to play for Arsenal and I'm grateful for this opportunity."

  7. Concentrate on the league

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

They'd have taken a win - of course they would - but Bournemouth will probably be fine with going out of this competition when the dust settles.

Still stuck in the relegation zone, they have some serious league matters to take care of.

  8. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

Nice moment for young Surridge, but all in vain. Here is Bournemouth's late consolation goal...

    FT: Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

    Tony Pulis

Former Bournemouth and Stoke manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

The best thing that happened to Bournemouth was half-time. As soon as they went to three in midfield and matched them up they got closer to Arsenal and could have got something out of it.

I'm not sure they deserved to, but they could have.

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

    All over.

Arsenal did all the damage in a first half they utterly dominated.

Bournemouth made more of a contest of it in the second but left it all way too late.

The Gunners will be going to Portsmouth in round five.

  11. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

We're into three figures. The 100th minute.

In comes a cross, Martinez punches but only as far as Lewis Cook, who.... fires over.

    Is that it?

  12. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

I'm not sure this will ever end.

Surridge gets a booking for leaving in a boot on Guendouzi, who goes down to take up more time.

  13. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

We're going to see more than eight added minutes here.

Ceballos takes some of that up by going down following a challenge and receiving some treatment.

Looks like some home fans have come back into the ground following that home goal. There's a lesson in that.

  14. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

Now the home side are interested.

  15. Video Assistant Referee

    This is bonkers.

The goal is fine, after a check for offside. But more time is taken for a clash between Callum Wilson and an Arsenal player over the reclaiming of the ball. The Cherries player wrestles the ball away from a man who falls.

So, what clear and obvious error was made there then?

  16. GOAL - Bournemouth 1-2 Arsenal

    Sam Surridge

Bournemouth have hope. Slim, but hope nonetheless.

It is a simple ball, swung in by Francis low from the left. The Arsenal defence disappears and Sam Surridge is able to nip in, round the keeper and score.

But of course we'll have a VAR check...

  17. Post update

    Bournemouth 0-2 Arsenal

Good game management from Martinelli, who runs the ball into the corner and wins a throw-in.

Moments later, the ball is worked across the box for Guendouzi to hammer a shot just over.

    Bournemouth 0-2 Arsenal

The Gunners eat into some of that added time by sending on Ainsley Maitland-Niles for Willock.

Xhaka delays the restart from a free-kick and gets booked for time wasting.

  19. Post update

    Bournemouth 0-2 Arsenal

Eight minutes of injury time. Yes, eight.
