Live Reporting

By Rob Stevens and Gary Smee

All times stated are UK

  1. Goodbye

That's it for our live text coverage of the midweek Championship action.

Check the BBC Sport website for the reports on all of tonight's matches.

We'll be back on Friday with coverage of Fulham's trip to Swansea City, before the regular English Football League coverage on Saturday.

    Thanks for joining us.

  2. Boro out of drop zone

At the bottom, Middlesbrough pull off a massive result to move out of the bottom three.

Their first win since September ended a 10-match winless run.

The Teessiders beat bottom club Barnsley and it's looking rather grim for the Tykes, who have not won since the opening day of the season and are now eight points from safety.

    Bottom of Championship
  3. Baggies back on top

    How it stands

Here is what tonight's results have done to the top of the second tier.

West Brom reclaim top spot after Leeds leapfrogged them last night.

The Baggies now have a seven-point cushion to third place, which is rather decent work by the end of November.

    Top of Championship

    West Brom 4-1 Bristol City

It's all over, and West Bromwich Albion are back on top of the Championship table.

They were 2-0 up at half-time but, after Famara Diedhou's late goal threatened a comeback, netted two moer to settle their nerves.

That is four wins in a row for Slaven Bilic's side, who are now eight unbeaten in the league.

Defeat means Bristol City are now a point off the play-off places.

  5. Post update

    West Brom 4-1 Bristol City

Into four minutes of stoppage time and almost a fifth for the Baggies.

Charlie Austin draws a good save from Daniel Bentley after being played in by Hal Robson-Kanu.

This time the offside flag is up - Austin was ahead of the Robins defence.

  6. Post update

    West Brom 4-1 Bristol City

The oles are out from the home fans, who are enjoying the closing stages of this match.

Their side are heading back to the top of the Championship table.

  7. GOAL: West Brom 4-1 Bristol City

    Charlie Austin (87 mins)

Game over now at The Hawthorns.

A sweeping cross comes in from the right and Charlie Austin diverts it goalwards.

It comes off his thigh but Daniel Bentley can only claw it onto the post.

The rebound falls straight back to Austin, who controls and then turns it into an unguarded net.

Replays show he might have been narrowly offside when the cross came in. West Brom won't care.

    QPR 0-4 Nottm Forest

A sorry night ends for QPR as, after going down to 10 men five minutes into the second half, they concede three goals in the final 10 minutes.

Forest are up to fourth in the table, only behind third-placed Fulham on goals scored.

The Reds have a game in hand on everyone else in the top six as well.

    Blackburn 1-0 Brentford

Blackburn hold on to record a third win in four matches.

Brentford miss a chance to move into the play-off places as they suffer a first defeat in three.

  10. GOAL: West Brom 3-1 Bristol City

    Hal Robson-Kanu (82 mins)

Or, West Brom will just go up the other end and score.

Bristol City look to pass the ball out from the back but give it away.

Matty Phillips advances down the right and then puts in cross which Hal Robson-Kanu turns in.

That should snuff out any hopes the visitors have of a late comeback.

    Hull 4-0 Preston

A brilliant performance from Hull. A night to forget for Preston.

Two goals from Jarrod Bowen, a Josh Magennis penalty and Kamil Grosicki strike give the Tigers a thumping victory.

Preston drop to fifth, Hull are up to ninth.

  12. GOAL: West Brom 2-1 Bristol City

    Famara Diedhiou (80 mins)

The Baggies had weathered a storm at the start of the second half, but now the visitors are back in the game.

A corner causes all kinds of problems on the edge of the Albion six yard box.

After a bit of a scramble and some jostling, Famara Diedhiou turns and crashes the ball in.

He retrieves it from the net to get the game restarted. It could be a grandstand finish.

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Barnsley

    Big, big result for Middlesbrough.

It's a first win in more than two months thanks to Ashley Fletcher's second half goal.

Boro move out of the relegation zone, but Barnsley are now eight points from safety at the bottom.

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Birmingham

Wednesday can't find a late winner in the face of fierce resistance from Birmingham.

A point doesn't do either side many favours.

The Owls are five without a win and now Birmingham are winless in four.

Will the two managers now share a handshake and a post-match drink? Don't bet on it.

  15. GOAL: QPR 0-4 Nottm Forest

    Alfa Semedo (90+1 mins)

Just when you didn't think it could get worse for QPR, it does.

Keeper Joe Lumley fails to hold a strike from Matty Cash, and Sammy Ameobi is on hand to tap the ball across to Alfa Semedo for a tap-in.

QPR appeal for offside against Ameobi but the officials are having none of it, and Forest celebrate in front of the travelling fans.

  16. Post update

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Birmingham

Sheffield Wednesday are still pushing forward, and Marc Roberts clears Massimo Luongo's header off the line.

  17. Post update

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Barnsley

Boro are shutting up shop now as the game moves into stoppage time.

It'll be a huge three points for Jonathan Woodgate if his side can hold on.

  18. GOAL: QPR 0-3 Nottm Forest

    Joao Carvalho (88 mins)

Forest are slicing through the 10 men now and have their third of the evening.

This one is a solo effort from Joao Carvalho.

Picking up the ball on the right flank, he advances into the area, nutmegs a covering defender and tehn finishes with the outside of the right boot past R's keeper Joe Lumley.

It's a sorry night for the hosts, but Forest are recording a third win in four in style.

  19. Post update

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Birmingham

A big chance for the hosts late on.

Atdhe Nuhiu chests down the ball inside the box and sends a powerful effort towards goal.

But Blues keeper Connal Trueman gets a strong hand to the strike at his near post to turn the ball behind for a corner.

  20. Post update

    West Brom 2-0 Bristol City

A couple of chances to report at The Hawthorns, as a brilliant last-ditch challenge from Nathan Baker denies Grady Diangana a third for the hosts.

Hal Robson-Kanu then has an effort from a narrow angle saved by Robins keeper Daniel Bentley.
