  1. Goodnight

Right, that's the end of this live page now. Thanks for joining me today.

Click on the football index for loads of match reports.

We're back tomorrow for the Europa League with Manchester United, Wolves and Arsenal basically playing back to back from 15:50 to 22:00 GMT.

  2. 'Alexander-Arnold has to play'

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

    Dion Dublin

Former Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool looked unbalanced tonight. Gomez didn't know when to go or stay. If Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit, he has to play because he's one of the best right-backs in the world. He will create goals for you - I was disappointed when he didn't start tonight.

Carlo Ancelotti is such a clever manager, he had his team play very deep in the middle of the pitch knowing it will force Liverpool wide. They knew Trent wasn't playing so they were happy defending crosses because they know they're not going to be good crosses.

  3. Post update

On his booking for arguing with the referee, Jurgen Klopp said: "'Don't do that', that's what I said, because they made a big fuss of the situation. We all said there's an opportunity for both teams to have a quick restart and he had things to say. So I said 'Why do you do that, please don't do that'."

  4. 'We were not brilliant'

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on BT Sport: "In [the Napoli] dressing room they feel like they are already through and maybe they are. Everybody here thinks, 'Oh my god, it will be tough' and it will be tough, that much is clear.

"The way Napoli set up, it didn't help that they scored, they could follow their plan all the time, we had to increase pressure all the time. We were not brilliant but we put pressure on them. I was not happy with the last 15 minutes of the first half. Second half it was just intense and of course it's not easy, they really defended the goal they had.

"We didn't have the biggest chances, maybe one or two. For tonight it might not be enough but it's still our situation. When we go to Salzburg, if we had done it tonight we would try to win there, so it's still our goal.

"They closed the centre so we needed to come from the wing. The plan is one thing but the boys have to execute it, and they crossed too early. We take that, it was always a hard one.

"The biggest thing is the Fabinho injury, that's massive. It's early and we all hope it's not too serious but it's pretty painful and in an area you don't want to have pain, around the ankle."

  5. 'Salzburg game will be horrible'

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

    Darren Fletcher

Former Man Utd midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

We know Salzburg have firepower, they made life difficult for Liverpool at Anfield and they will make sure it's a horrible game.

  6. Post update

    Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

Liverpool really could have done with winning today.

Their fixtures in December are on Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday, Thursday, Sunday.

That first Tuesday is the Salzburg game so they could have done with a nice dead rubber there.

  7. 'There was only one team who was going to win'

    Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on BT Sport: "We'd have liked to have won tonight to finish the job off. Napoli made it difficult. We're still in a decent position.

"They're a good team with good players. There were times when we played good stuff. We were searching for the second one but couldn't find it.

"In the second half I thought there was only one team who was going to win. There was a question of a foul - you probably know better than me."

  8. 'This period defines Liverpool's season'

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

    Darren Fletcher

Former Man Utd midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

This period's massive and it defines everything about Liverpool's season. They've put themselves in an unbelievable position in the league, we know how good they are in the Champions League and they want to win the World Club Cup.

If Liverpool don't manage their players well they could find themselves dropping points, picking up injuries.

  9. 'Liverpool are better than this'

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

    Dion Dublin

Former Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think the fans should have expected more from the performance. They didn't lose, fair play, but they didn't do enough to win the game and I'm pretty sure the fans were frustrated by the performances of individuals. They gave the ball away so much. They didn't look potent going forward or create many clear-cut chances. They're better than this.

  10. Post update

Groups A and B are done and dusted, with PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Tottenham all through.

Manchester City, Juventus, Barcelona and RB Leipzig are all in the last 16 too.

  11. Post update

Only eight teams have qualified for the knockout stages after five rounds of games. That is the joint fewest since the current format was introduced in 2003-04.

  12. Post update

Napoli have failed to win seven consecutive matches for the first time since February to March 2013.

  13. 'Liverpool need to do more'

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

    Dion Dublin

Former Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool played in third gear tonight, popped into fourth gear on the odd occasion, but a very underwhelming performance. Napoli were outstanding, they didn't set the world alight with scintillating football but the way they worked was enough tonight. Liverpool need to do more.

  14. Post update

And Barcelona are also in the knockout stages thanks to a comfortable 3-1 win over a disappointing Borussia Dortmund.

  15. Leipzig reach last 16 after dramatic finale

RB Leipzig reach the last 16 for the first time after coming from 2-0 down against Benfica to draw 2-2.

Emil Forsberg, who scored from the spot in the 90th minute, headed in a second in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

The players and bench celebrate making history.

  16. Post update

Two teams have booked their place in the last 16 tonight, but not Liverpool or Chelsea.

Aaron Lowery: Really poor game. Napoli could give Jose lessons on parking the bus. Thankfully, we won't have to play them again this season unless draws go against us later in the competition because they are as anti-football as anti-football gets.

  18. What do Liverpool need?

Realistically Liverpool need a point from their game at Red Bull Salzburg in two weeks if they are to go through.

A defeat would only be enough if Napoli lose to Genk at the same time - or the Reds would probably go through if they lost 5-4 (ie by one goal but scoring four times or more).

  19. FULL-TIME

    Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

It's all over. Liverpool miss out on the chance to book their place in the last 16.

  20. Post update

    Liverpool 1-1 Napoli

It's a poor free and Napoli clear.
