  4. Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane to 'count on' Gareth Bale

    Real Madrid

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane says he will now "count on" forward Gareth Bale despite previously saying the Wales international could leave.

Bale was expected to join Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning in July.

Zidane said at the time his departure would be a "good thing for everyone" before the Real blocked the move.

New signing Eden Hazard sustained a thigh injury in training on Friday and Bale may now be considered for their La Liga opener at Celta Vigo on Saturday.

SMS Message: Playing for the under 11s for West Wickham against our fierce local rivals Wickham Wanderers in the final game of the season. We went 2-0 down and (despite playing as a striker) I scored my only 2 goals all season to drag it back to 2-2... I decided to retire on a high after that game. from Ant, Bromley

  6. 'VAR will go against us at some point in the season, but I can’t cry'

Chelsea v Leicester (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Leicester City

On VAR: “I believe so [that it's still positive]. You want the right decision.

"It’s not going to be perfect at this moment in time. If you get the right decision in the end, that’s all that matters. Whether it goes for or against you, you can’t let it affect your momentum in the game.

"Rules are rules, it was handball, it led to a goal, it couldn’t be given. It will go against us at some point in the season, but I can’t cry.”

  7. 'Defensively, our structure was good'

Chelsea v Leicester (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Leicester City

On Wolves: “We were playing against a very good side, a side that have been together for a long while.

"I was very pleased with our organisation because Wolves give a lot of teams problems, particularly away from home on the counter attack. We defended against that very well.

"The game was very tight but defensively, our structure was good. We created one or two chances that, on another day, we might have scored.

"Hopefully, as time goes on, we will improve but what is important is to have a base to build on and hopefully we created that last week.”

  8. 'We made a solid start last weekend' - Rodgers

Chelsea v Leicester (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to the media ahead of his side's clash with Chelsea on Sunday.

On Frank Lampard: “He’ll be looking to bring in the younger players and he has done. They have a wonderful academy full of talented players and they’ve developed them over many years. He will give them that chance to flourish."

On the Foxes' prospects this season: "It’s a long season. For us, it’s step by step. We made a solid start last weekend and we were defensively very good. The competition is very tough, but we’ve got a talented squad that we’re developing over time.”

  9. 'We as a team are working very well and hard'

Everton v Watford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

On home clean sheets: “You have to put quality in your work.

“We have to make them believe that is the way to make us stronger as a team.

“Even in that period, with some changes in our back line, we did really well.

“The numbers are good not just at Goodison. Nine clean sheets in 12 is fantastic in the Premier League.

“We as a team are working very well and hard.”

    Marco Silva
  10. 'Watford's style of play will not change in my opinion'

Everton v Watford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

On Watford: “What they try, I think all the teams try also, to get stronger and sign important players.

“Their style of play will not change in my opinion. It is clear what they tried to do.

“They already had a strong XI last season and it will be the same tomorrow.”

On being more clinical: “We have to be more clinical in the opposition box.

“We create enough chances to win a football match.”

    Marco Silva

Everton v Watford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

On Goodison: “It’s important for us to play at Goodison. It’s really important for us to make Goodison our fortress.

“We finished last season playing really well with a fantastic connection with our fans.

“They play a key part during the game and was a big part of our season. In our best moments they were there and in other moments also. We did well together.”

  12. 'We are not comparing one squad with the other'

Everton v Watford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

On Alex Iwobi: “Now it’s a matter for us to put him in the best physical condition possible.

“He’s working really hard and well. It’s up to me whether I put Alex in the squad tomorrow.”

On a stronger squad: “It’s a different squad. I have not said it is stronger or better. We have to prove that during the season.

“We signed good, important players but lost a very important player.

“We are not comparing one squad with the other.”

Everton v Watford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

On whether Everton's new signings are ready: “Now is my job to settle them in the right way.

“Some are ready if I need them. Some need some time.

“Alex arrived last week. Some are ready to play if I decide.

“In the meantime we have to work with them inside. They will learn more but in time I have to decide the best XI in each game.”

    Marco Silva
  15. 'The market is open and it's possible something could happen.'

Everton v Watford (Sat, 15:00 BST)

A transfer update from Marco Silva: “Morgan Schneiderlin, if he is linked with other clubs, it is not important to me.

“Morgan is part of our squad. When I finished the squad last Thursday, he will be here until the end, until January, with all of them.

“We have Morgan and JP [Gbamin] for that position.

“It is not the position to talk about Kevin and Niasse. You know my opinion on them.

"The market is open and it is possible something could happen.”

SMS Message: Our friends band at Uni were playing on the Isle of Wight the same day as Liverpool 4-1 Utd. Went over on the ferry and found the nearest pub, only to find it FULL of Utd fans. Going 1 down soon had us questioning our decision to stay, but rest is history as they say! Cue wild celebrations from the 4 of us and being asked to leave at the full time whistle! 18. Lo Celso update from Poch

    Tottenham Hotspur

Poch on whether Lo Celso will start: “We need to assess him. A lot of things have happened in his life now. He arrived with no pre-season, of course he is trying to adapt himself, his physical condition, tactically, settle in a new country in a new philosophy and it is not easy.

“I can tell you he won’t be in the starting XI, but if he is going to be involved or not we need to assess today. We need to see how he is and see the balance on the bench.”
