  1. Goodbye

We'll have reaction from Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes as and when we get it.

Rangers hit four in Denmark to all but secure their place in the Europa League play-off round.

The Dons face a sterner test, as they'll seek to overturn a 2-0 deficit when they host Rijeka at Pittodrie next week.

Thanks for your company tonight. We're back on Saturday for another Premiership extravaganza. Cheers.

  2. What's next in the Europa League?

Should Aberdeen overcome a 2-0 deficit, they will face either Cypriot side AEK Larnaca or KAA Gent of Belgium in the play-off round.

For Rangers, the prize of seeing off FC Midtjylland next week will be Legia Warsaw or Atromitos.

  3. 'Close to perfect performance' - Gerrard

    FT: FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

Steven Gerrard on Rangers TV: "I'm proud of the performance. Everyone to a man was fantastic tonight. It's a great result but it's only half-time and there's still a lot of work to do.

"We need to carry out the gameplan in the second leg exactly like the boys did it tonight.

"We were very close to a perfect performance."

"Some of the goals we scored tonight were fantastic."

  4. 'An exciting looking team that played negatively'

    FT: HNK Rijeka 2-0 Aberdeen

    Tom English

    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

Quote Message: Derek McInnes picked an exciting looking team and then they played negatively. A positive team selection but a negative gameplan. I was really surprised and disappointed with the way Aberdeen played. They offered very little in attack and were very passive going forward. There were a lot of players on that pitch with a lot of danger about them and we saw nothing of it.
  5. 'Aberdeen showed no attacking flair'

    HNK Rijeka 2-0 Aberdeen

    Steven Thompson

Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: Aberdeen never showed any of their attacking flair that has been such a big part of their campaign so far. You sometimes set up in Europe to not concede and try to be difficult to break down. But if you can't do that, still concede and then offer nothing to the game offensively then it turns into a disappointment.
    Aberdeen's Greg Leigh
  6. 'Rangers were ruthless'

    FT: FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

    Tom English

    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

Rangers were ruthless tonight and their goals were outstanding. There were some brilliant individual performances. To go away from home and score four goals against a team we thought could be tricky, that was brilliant.

  7. 'That wasn't a true reflection of Aberdeen'

    HNK Rijeka 2-0 Aberdeen

    Steven Thompson

Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: Aberdeen will be disappointed with the performance they gave this evening. I don't think that was a true reflection of how they have played through pre-season and through the early Europa League games
  8. Rangers boosted by 'superb Jones'

    FT: FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

    Steven Thompson

Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

Quote Message: The only negatives for Rangers are the goals they conceded, both of which were quite sloppy. But Rangers grew into the game and finished it very strongly. Jordan Jones was superb tonight - especially when you can carry the ball such a long distance

  9. Get Involved

#bbcsportscot & BBC Sport Scotland Facebook page

Michael Stewart: Fantastic results for Rangers away from home in Europe. Scoring four goals is a huge confidence builder. Steady performance at Ibrox and Scotland should have at least one team in the play-off round.

  10. FULL-TIME HNK Rijeka 2-0 Aberdeen

An Antonio-Mirko Colak penalty and a predatory strike by Robert Muric secures victory for Rijeka. The result will test Aberdeen's impressive home form when they seek to overturn a two-goal deficit in the second leg at Pittodrie.

In truth, the Dons showed precious little in front of goal.

    Rijeka celebrate
  11. Dons chance

    HNK Rijeka 2-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson rifles a shot at goal, comfortably saved by Prskalo

  12. FULL-TIME FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

Goals from Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield and Nikola Katic see Rangers secure a comfortable and impressive first leg advantage.

Despite the Danes scoring two themselves, Steven Gerrard's side are all but through to face either Legia Warsaw or Atromitos in the play-off round.

  13. Will Morelos ever learn?

    FC Midtylland 2-4 Rangers

    Billy Dodds

    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

Quote Message: He was late into the challenge. But the FC Midtjylland players know he's a hot head. It's not just one running in, there's four or five wanting him booked and wanting to get involved. He was a bit daft there from the Rangers striker and he needs to learn. But we've said that for the past season or two about him
  14. Morelos booked

    FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

Alfredo Morelos earns a booking for a late challenge as tempers fray once more in Denmark

  15. GOAL HNK Rijeka 2-0 Aberdeen

With the Dons pushing for an away goal, they've conceded a second. It's a wonderful finish from Robert Muric with a curling left-foot effort that finds its way beyond flying wardrobe Joe Lewis.

  16. GREAT SAVE!

    FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

Substitute Mabil tests Allan McGregor with a fierce free-kick. The Rangers goalkeeper beats the ball away with a double punch - more like a volleyball number - and it remains 4-2 to the visitors.

  17. Rangers fans loving Jones

    FC Midtylland 2-4 Rangers

    Billy Dodds

    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

Quote Message: Rangers supporters over to our left are loving Jordan Jones' performance tonight. He's been sensational. Talk about biding your time and waiting for opportunities, he's certainly done that.
  18. Cosgrove quiet

    HNK Rijeka 1-0 Aberdeen

The Dons have been unable to get in-form striker Sam Cosgrove into the game in Croatia. Nine minutes plus added time remaining for Derek McInnes' side to try to find an away goal.

  19. Danes going all out Calderwood-style

    FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

    Billy Dodds

    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

Quote Message: It's like the Jimmy Calderwood days at Aberdeen: if his team were behind he'd just go 2-4-4 and all-out attack. It's a bit like that now for FC Midtjylland, just get bodies forward and leave two at the back. They are vulnerable on the attack thought that way.
  20. HNK Rijeka 1-0 Aberdeen

Scott Wright and Dean Campbell are on the pitch for Aberdeen and the away side suddenly look far more threatening up front. That may be down to Rijeka deciding they're content with a one-goal lead but it's perhaps the first time we've seen any genuine attacking intent from Derek McInnes' side tonight.
