James Ballantyne: If he wants to be. Pogba can be like Cantona to all these wonderful young players. I hope he rises to this.

James: Lampard gone by Christmas. Mark my words.

Jack Robin: So Manchester Utd have a flying Welsh winger, feeling they have been there before #RyanGiggs

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

    Harry Maguire

Substitute Daniel James might have bagged on his Manchester United debut but he wasn't the only new face to impress.

England centre-back Harry Maguire was excellent today, helping keeping the back door shut and robbing Tammy Abraham to set up one of the United goals.

Making more clearances (seven), interceptions (four) and blocks (two) than any other Manchester United player means Maguire has been named man of the match.

Surprised we didn't hear a rendition or two of an Oasis tune off Heathen Chemistry from the United fans towards Frank Lampard this afternoon...

    Daniel James

Not a bad introduction to life at Old Trafford for Daniel James.

  5. 'It is something they have to sort straight away'

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

    Andy Townsend

Ex-Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

There was a lot of pressure on United today, more tan Chelsea. After a really good 45 minutes, Chelsea went under too easy. Yes there are positives and some good aspects of their game but Frank has been a winner – a serial winner at Chelsea – and they didn’t get that by having a soft underbelly and being too easy to roll over. That is something they have to sort out straight away.

  6. FULL-TIME

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

All over! The harsh reality of Premier League management hits Frank Lampard.

A dream start to the season for Manchester United and their boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, on the other hand.

Goals from Marcus Rashford (2), Anthony Martial and debutant substitute Daniel James give United an emphatic win.

Anything City and Liverpool can do, eh?

    Frank Lampard
  7. Post update

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

What would have happened if Emerson had scored instead of hitting the post in the first half?

if he scores now then nothing will be different.

The Brazilian left-back has another ping, David de Gea determined to take home his clean sheet bonus.

  8. Post update

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

Few would have seen this scoreline coming at half-time. Or even at 60 minutes.

  9. INJURY TIME

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

Chelsea hearts sink. Four more minutes of pain.

  10. Post update

Paul Lummis: That celebration from James is perfect and shows the new approach - bring in young players who want to wear the shirt and the badge, and give them a place to succeed.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONS

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

Highly-rated teenager Mason Greenwood comes on for Marcus Rashford, who says the 17-year-old has "frightening natural ability".

Not want the Chelsea defence wants to face right now.

Juan Mata also on for Jesse Lingard.

Time for a couple more Manchester United subs...

  14. Post update

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

A consolation for Chelsea might not even get many cheers from the away end. The Blues are still plugging away with Mason Mount testing David de Gea with a low shot.

Will Singer: So disappointing to happen so quickly. Everyone will turn and blame Lampard but Chelsea showed strong character and played really well but were blown away in such a short time.

Jim Harper: Early days but nice to England strikers hitting the net regularly.

John Smith: Pedro trying hard , but not quite replaced Hazard yet

  16. Post update

    Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

"Sacked in the morning, you're getting sacked in the morning..."

That's the chant ringing out around Old Trafford in the direction of Frank Lampard.

  17. GOAL - Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea

    Daniel James

    Daniel James scores

    Dream debut!

Told you Daniel James was quick and he shows it again in front of his 75,000 new supporters.

James masquerades as Usain Bolt to join Paul Pogba on a rapid United raid, the Frenchman perfectly picking out his wingman on the right.

James initially looks unsure as he hesitates between cross or shot, then lamps a deflected shot into the far corner.

  18. Post update

    Man Utd 3-0 Chelsea

"Jose Mourinho, Jose Mourinho" sings someone at Old Trafford. Must be the away fans...
