All times stated are UK

  1. Post update

They celebrated that like it was a winner against England in the World Cup final.

  2. GOAL - Republic of Ireland 2-0 Gibraltar

    Robbie Brady

    WHAT A GREAT FOOTBALL GAME.

The Republic of Ireland put the result beyond doubt as James McClean's high cross is over everyone and Robbie Brady heads into an empty net at the back post.

  3. Post update

Of course Gibraltar would have to attack to score an equaliser. They get to the halfway line and then their player slips.

  4. Post update

Conor Hourihane picks out Richard Keogh with a good corner and the defender's header is well saved by Kyle Goldwin.

  5. INJURY TIME

Four minutes added on as the Gibraltar keeper slices a kick.

  6. Post update

    Imagine if Gibraltar equalised.

(Don't worry, that's not my way of saying they have).

  7. Post update

Robbie Brady 20 yards out. Over.

  8. PENALTY APPEAL

James McClean clips a ball over the top, and Richard Keogh goes down. It looks like Ethan Jolley clipped him but the referee doesn't give a penalty. No VAR in these qualifiers.

    Irish players barely appealed though.

  9. Post update

A reminder that Gibraltar have conceded 107 goals in their previous 22 qualifiers, all defeats.

  10. Post update

There have been a couple more Irish attacks which have fizzled out. I'm losing the energy to tell you about them now.

  11. Post update

There's been a goal elsewhere. Spain have a second penalty against Sweden. This time it's Alvaro Morata who takes it and he scores.

    Spain's Alvaro Morata
  12. Post update

Shane Duffy heads wide from Conor Hourihane's corner.

  13. Post update

Corner to the Republic. Can they find a second?

  14. Post update

The Republic of Ireland Under-21s are in the semi-finals of the Toulon tournament in France. Suspect they'd be more than 1-0 up against Gibraltar right now.

James McClean slips as he shoots wide from 20 yards.

  15. Post update

Seamus Coleman backheels the ball to Robbie Brady, whose cross is headed away. Now Jeff Hendrick puts a ball into the box but the Irish concede a free-kick.

  16. Post update

Sean Maguire offside now. Mick McCarthy screams some instructions from the sideline.

    This is terrible to watch.

  17. SUBSTITUTION

Gibraltar bring on Ethan Jolley for his second cap. His first was a one-minute cameo in a friendly against Estonia. He replaces the injured Andrew Hernandez.

  18. Post update

Conor Hourihane takes a corner, which Shane Duffy heads into the air. A defender pushes Robbie Brady into the Gibraltar keeper and somehow earns his side a free out.

  19. SUBSTITUTION

On comes Robbie Brady for Callum Robinson on the right wing. Preston's Robinson did OK but missed an end product.

  20. Post update

Jeff Hendrick finds Seamus Coleman, but a Gibraltar player does well to slide the ball off him.
