  1. Goodbye

That's the end of this live page now. Thanks for joining us today.

Read the South Africa v Germany match report here.

Or the Spain v China one here.

It's only an hour until the Group A games between South Korea and Norway, and Nigeria v France, which you can watch live on the BBC Sport website.

  2. 'We have to learn from our mistakes'

South Africa captain Janine van Wyk is trying to stay positive despite her team's exit from the Women's World Cup.

"We were up against the second best team in the world and we have to learn from our mistakes.

"We were up against a really tough opponent - technically disciplined and organised. We made a few errors - our players not picking up in the box and an error for the keeper.

"We couldn't score a goal but we tried to attack."

  3. Post update

The four World Cup debutant teams have lost all nine games combined in this tournament.

  4. Post update

Germany have won all three of their group stage matches for a fourth time - after 1991, 2003 and 2011.

This is the third time they have gone through a group stage without conceding - 1991 and 2007 were the others.

  5. Post update

South Africa are the first team to be eliminated from this World Cup. Three games, three defeats on their tournament debut.

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

So this is how Group B finishes.

Germany, ranked second in the world, cruise into the last 16 and a game in Grenoble on 22 June against a team yet to be decided.

    Three wins, no goals conceded.

Spain and China drew 0-0 to join Germany in the knockout stages.

Spain finish runners-up - and now head to Reims for a knockout tie against the United States or Sweden on 24 June.

China also go through as one of the best third-placed finishers after collecting four points.

    South Africa are heading home.

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

It's all over. Germany are into the last 16 as group winners. South Africa are out.

  8. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Should definitely be five as Lea Schuller is picked out six yards out but South Africa keeper Andile Dlamini saves with her legs.

  9. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Carolin Simon tries to add a late fifth but blasts wide under pressure. She wants a corner, doesn't get it.

Raimund: 5,000 disallowed goals per season with this new ridiculous rule.

The offside flags going up so late is pretty annoying to be honest

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Four minutes added on. Not sure anybody needs them.

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

South Africa's Leandra Smeda comes on for her 98th cap... and World Cup debut. Kholosa Biyana is replaced.

  13. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Rhoda Mulaudzi should score. She's onside but in behind the German defence as she controls a long ball forward. She spins and shoots wide under minimal pressure.

  14. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Lea Schuller almost feeds Alexandra Popp, but the ball runs through to the keeper.

  15. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

South Africa keeper Andile Dlamini comes flying out of her box to stop a German attack.

The underdogs counter but Rhoda Mulaudzi fires over... and the offside flag pops up anyway.

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Another Germany disallowed goal. Linda Dallmannis is offside when she has the ball on the left. She has three players to aim at in the centre and picks out teenager Giulia Gwinn, who fires home. But the flag goes up.

  17. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

South Africa's Refiloe Jane is getting treatment off the pitch. They have one sub left if they need it.

  18. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

South Africa are making a go of this late on. Rhoda Mulaudzi has a shot blocked and then Thembi Kgatlana shoots wide.

Now the ball almost drops for Busiswe Ndimeni in the box but not too kindly and it's a corner.

  19. Post update

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

The sun is getting in players' faces at the moments in Montpellier. Half the pitch is in shade, half is in the light. Like one of those really annoying pitches on Fifa.

    South Africa 0-4 Germany

Alexandra Popp has the ball in the net but the offside flag correctly goes up. Linda Dallmann flew in down the left and crossed for Popp to slot home.

The guidance is to leave the offside flag down initially which is what they did - but they were definitely offside.

South Africa skipper Janine van Wyk hugs the ref!
