Gary Lewis: That was brilliant to watch. Hope my niece was watching. Used to see her team play like that once upon a time. Lots of fight and great result. Round of applause.

    Rachel Brown-Finnis

    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC TV

It was difficult for the USA to get out. England were getting the ball down and played it. They imposed their game on the US.

They look susceptible [to set-pieces]. They're not clearing their lines enough.

    Alex Scott

Ex-Arsenal Ladies & England international on BBC Two

You’ve got to be proud of the performance. So many positives. So many positive performances. The mentality of this England team in the second half to try to win the game against the world champions. Looking at this England team there’s more to build on.

    USA 2-2 England

So that means the title will go down to Tuesday's final matches.

Japan and England are level on points and play each other live on BBC4 at 22:00.

The USA can still retain the title but they'll need to beat Brazil and hope the teams above them draw...and they'll need to improve their goal difference,.

    Sue Smith

Former England forward on BBC TV

Phil Neville said this would be a benchmark. England have just gone toe to toe with the number one team in the world, they should be proud of themselves. The fact they were still going for a winner shows how far we've come as a nation.

  8. FULL-TIME

    USA 2-2 England

    Well in, Lionesses.

  9. PENALTY APPEAL

    USA 2-2 England

    Ok the tension. THE TENSION.

Megan Rapinoe goes down under pressure in the box and there's huge shouts for a penalty.

    Referee says no.

And now Steph Houghton clears more danger.

  10. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

    Karen Bardsley to the rescue!

Carli Lloyd is rushing forward with intent but the England keeper gets down low and saves the day.

  11. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

This is not what they need. A Megan Rapinoe free-kick from distance.

Jodie Taylor, who's come on in the second half, helps scurry the ball away.

England are going on the counter! Toni Duggan cuts inside but her shot hits Adrianna Franch in the USA goal.

  12. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

England have a corner now. Beth Mead takes it...gahhh it's come to nothing.

Will they go for broke or defend the current score? Around five minutes to go...

  13. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

Rachel Daly flies in a cross from the corner but it floats too far over the other side.

England then earn a free-kick about 35-yards out.

  14. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

Another change for England. Georgia Stanway comes on for Ellen White.

Meanwhile, Megan Rapinoe (again) plays a lovely ball to Alex Morgan, but the USA striker can't get her shot on target.

  15. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

England are nervy on set-pieces. They've got to come up against a Megan Rapinoe free-kick now.

It's whipped in but Julie Ertz can't flick it past Lionesses keeper Karen Bardsley.

    USA 2-2 England

Marc Richards: Very scrappy goal to concede.. if only the English defence were as sharp as Phil Neville’s attire.

    Neville's channeling his inner Southgate...

  18. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

Steph Houghton's been hit in the face by the ball and the USA carry on playing, until Megan Rapinoe - the opening goalscorer - alerts the referee and the whistle is blown.

The crowd hated it, but it was the right thing to do.

  19. Post update

    USA 2-2 England

It looks like Arsenal's Beth Mead is going to be England's first change.

She made a big difference against Brazil, but the USA are a different challenge altogether.

  20. Post update

    Sue Smith

Former England forward on BBC TV

It's a real scrappy goal for the USA but they won't care. England part-clear it but they just can't get rid. Two players go for the same ball and Abbie McManus tries to keep it out with her hand. There's a few errors. England have struggled with set-pieces. The best sides in the world punish you.
