  1. Au revoir

    That is that.

    Well done Luka!

    Well done Kylian!

    And of course...

Well done Ada! Enjoy this historic moment.

Thanks for reading and for your messages.

Until next year - I wonder if we'll have a change of hosts?

  2. 'I didn't consider it sexual harassment'

Ballon d'Or winner Ada Hegerberg speaking to BBC Sport: "Being historical and the first woman to win the Ballon d'Or is a huge moment in my life. It felt right to have my teammates with me.

"It is a fantastic team with great characters. I have been at Lyon for four and a half years and it is a special mentality. We live and breathe football and I cherish it.

"It is a fantastic day for women's football. It is historical and it is important to show young girls that they can believe in themselves and I hope they are inspired by this. They are the future.

"I cherish all awards as they are the result of hard work and self belief but the Ballon d'or is historical. Standing here today is the biggest moment of my life.

On being asked to twerk: "He came to me afterwards and was really sad that it went that way. I didn't really think about it at the time to be honest. I didn't really consider it a sexual harassment or anything in the moment.

"I was just happy to do the dance and win the Ballon d'Or to be honest. I will have a glass of champagne when I get back, yes."

  3. Hegerberg is speaking to the BBC!

  4. Post update

More from Luka Modric on Real Madrid's poor start to the season: "We didn't start well this season but it is normal for some players and for me in particular as I came late from the World Cup. But I am sure we will be again the Real Madrid that everyone likes to watch and that are afraid of. This is football.

"In the last game we showed again that we are getting better. Hopefully we will grow in our game and get better. I will give all my individual awards up to win the World Cup. But it was something amazing for such a small country. It didn't happen but it is a great feeling to win this.

"They are two great players. They had great seasons. They deserve to be there but there can only be one winner so I am happy that I am.

"I voted for Raphael Varane as the winner. He finished in seventh which is good but in my opinion he should be higher."

  5. Post update

Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric speaking to media on the red carpet: "It is difficult to express my emotion and how I feel in words. It is something unique for me. It was very special tonight. It was the most important people in my life - most of them, some of them were missing - but I am so happy to share this moment with them.

"Maybe in the past there are some players who could have won the Ballon d'Or like Xavi or Andres Iniesta but people finally now are looking at someone else.

"This award is for all the players who probably deserved to win it and didn't. It was a really special year for me.

"To win the Champions League and play in the final of the World Cup as captain was amazing and finish with this is... it is difficult for me to chose from those moments. I just want to enjoy it."

  6. Hegerberg continues to move down the line...

The BBC team are still waiting patiently - it's what mixed zones are about.

It's an experience. Lot of darting about if, like me, you're sans camera and with just a dictaphone as your journalist weapon.

    Anyway, here's Modric

  7. Men's winner Luka Modric is speaking to the BBC!!!

We will bring you the quotes in a wee bit.

  8. Bronze: 'It was more of a joke of making her dance'

England defender and Ballon d'Or nominee Lucy Bronze, speaking to BBC Sport: "It was amazing to be part of, amazing that one of teammate won the award. It was great to be part of such a special night. To finally have a women’s Ballon d’Or is the best thing about women’s football right now.

"Anyone of my teammates could have won the award. Ada was the one that won it. She scored the most goals in the Champions League, she had a fantastic season. All of my teammates had a fantastic year. We are so happy for Ada. It is a great moment for her right now.

"The DJ asked each person that won what their dance was but she can twerk, she was lying. It was more of a joke of making her dance."

  9. What did Solveig say to Hegerberg?

    Ada Hegerberg

It is worth noting that co-host Martin Solveig did not ask Ballon d'Or winner to "twerk" on stage.

He asked her: "Do you know how to twerk?"

    She responded: "No."

Some would say what he said was as crass, I'd have to agree.

She then danced with him - it appeared she didn't have much option.

    Full story here.

  10. Right, so I can see Hegerberg in the mixed zone

Hopefully, she will talk to our BBC journos waiting patiently in line.

  11. Reaction to DJ's comment made to Ballon d'Or winner Hegerberg

I couldn't embed former USA and Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden's tweet because he starts off by using a 'swear' to describe Martin Solveig.

Here is the rest of his tweet:

"Let’s not let one idiots sexism and ignorance shadow what is an incredible achievement and honor for @AdaStolsmo."

  12. ICYMI: Women's Ballon d'Or Ada Hegerberg is asked if she knows how to "twerk"

    Ada Hegerberg

The three-time Champions League winner was asked by a record player called Martin Solveig if she knew how to "twerk".

She appeared not to appreciate being asked.

    Highly understandable.

  13. Who do you know should have got the Ballon d'Or?

    #bbcfootball

Saj, What happened to 2,3&4! WHAT HAPPENED TO 2,3&4!!!! Oh, and my mate Ilan who represented South Africa at u18 level, went to rabbinical seminary in 2008 and never left. Scored most of our club goals as a centre half.

First part answered, and thanks for the Ilan chat

  14. The rest of the top 10 countdown...

It's been ruined by the Ballon lot announcing the winner. *sad face*

    Anyway:

    4. Kylian Mbappe

    3. Antoine Griezmann

    2. Cristiano Ronaldo

    And...you know the rest.

  15. Who do you know should have got the Ballon d'Or?

    #bbcfootball

Biggems: My mate Brandon deserves a shout due to the bangers he scored from dead- ball situations, someone to look out for on Football Manager 2022.

    Maybe next year Brandon.

  16. Harry Redknapp alert!!!

Men's Ballon d'Or winner 2018 Luka Modric: "Change of position helped me a lot in my career. I used to play more offensively.

"When I dropped back, I was able to read the game better and show my creativity. Harry Redknapp made that change."

Get those quotes to the jungle. Triffic!
