  1. Blue is the colour

Ballymena go second as Swifts go through

An interesting - and significant - night of action in Ballymena and north Belfast.

At the Showgrounds, Ballymena United went second with a 2-1 win over Glentoran - Tony Kane scoring the winner from the penalty spot after Curtis Allen had equalised Andy McGrory's opener.

The Sky Blues will go top if they beat Newry on Friday night - will boss David Jeffrey continue to deny they are in the title race then?

At Solitude, meanwhile, holders Dungannon Swifts made it through to the last four with a 3-2 win on penalties over Cliftonville.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, a Levi Ives 30-yard screamer put the hosts in front in extra-time before Johnny Lafferty hit a late, late equaliser.

Joe Gormley, Stephen Garrett and Ryan Catney missed from the spot for the Reds to send the holders through.

We'll be back again on Saturday for more Irish Premiership action - see you then.

  12. Penalties it is

    Cliftonville 1-1 Dungannon Swifts

It'll be decided by spot kicks.

  13. GOAL

    Cliftonville 1-1 Dungannon Swifts

They aren't giving up that easily!

Johnny Lafferty levels at the death after a long ball beats the Reds defence, the big striker is there to poke beyond Brian Neeson.

Looks like we're taking this to penalties.

  14. Swifts reign ending?

    Cliftonville 1-0 Dungannon Swifts

Dungannon can't break down a solid looking Cliftonville defence as they search desperately to maintain their grip on the cup they so brilliantly won last year.

  15. Levi Ives, take a bow

    Cliftonville 1-0 Dungannon Swifts

    Some hit.

  16. Half-time in extra-time

    Cliftonville 1-0 Dungannon Swifts

Cliftonville have one foot in the semi-finals courtesy of Levi Ives' screamer.

  17. Hegarty can't beat the wall

    Cliftonville 1-0 Dungannon Swifts

Free-kick on the edge of the area for Dungannon and it's Chris Hegarty standing over it.

A deflection off the top of the wall takes it looping onto the top of Brian Neeson's net.

  18. GOAL

    Cliftonville 1-0 Dungannon Swifts

Oh Levi Ives, that is an absolutely spectacular strike.

30 yards out, he accepts the invitation to shoot with his left and it sails beyond Niall Morgan into the top corner. That's fantastic.

  19. Goal line technology needed at Solitude

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

    Well, did it?

Thumbs up if you think it was in.

    Thumbs down if not.

  20. Swifts living dangerously

    Cliftonville 0-0 Dungannon Swifts

Big appeals for a penalty from Cliftonville who think Rory Donnelly's header has come off a Dungannon hand.

Then with the last action of the 90 Jay Donnelly has a shot cleared off the line for, I kid you not, the fourth time tonight.

    Full-time whistle sounds.

    We are going to extra-time.
