Anon: Suarez has a long way to go to be skillful or prolific enough to be compared to Romario.

To be fair, 159 goals in 211 games for Barcelona is pretty prolific...

LKChataut: South America 6-0 Rest of the world

Good observations, two Brazilians, a Uruguayan hat-trick and a Chilean on the scoresheet.

  3. Post update

Real Madrid have conceded five goals in a competitive game for the first time since November 2010 against Barcelona in La Liga (5-0).

They have failed to win in five La Liga games (D1 L4), their worst run since May 2009 under Juande Ramos (five defeats).

  4. Post update

There were 30 passes made in the build-up to Philippe Coutinho’s goal - the most of any goal in El Clasico in La Liga since at least 2005-06.

Stephen Hogan: Fascinating to watch my first #ElClasico in Spain (in a bar!), great atmosphere. I thought 5-1 flattered Barca but they played as a team. Real were much more a collection of individuals and they disintegrated in the last 15 minutes. Alba and Suarez particularly good

Olaosebikan Victor: Forget Lopetegui. The whole Madrid squad needs an overhaul. They were absolute shambles today

  7. Barca's best run since 1970s

Barcelona are unbeaten in 42 La Liga home matches (W34 D8), since a 2-1 defeat by Alaves on 10 September 2016.

Barca have only had one better run than that - 67 from 1973-1977.

  8. A Real relegation battle?

Real Madrid are now closer to the relegation zone (six points) than they are to leaders Barcelona (seven points).

IK Kiplagat: Poor Lopetegui. His greed made him kick the Spain national team. Now he will be jobless tonight. Justice will be served

  14. Post update

This is Real Madrid's worst start to a season in 17 years. Their 14 points after 10 games is their weakest since 2001-02 under Vicente del Bosque (13 points).

They have lost three La Liga games in a row for the first time since May 2009 - when they lost five (a joint club record).

  15. Suarez is the new Romario

Lionel Messi scored Barcelona's previous two Clasico hat-tricks.

The last one before today scored by anybody else was Romario on 8 January 1994 - in a 5-0 win.

  16. Post update

This is Barcelona's biggest Clasico win in almost three years. They won 4-0 at the Bernabeu on 21 November 2015.
