  4. McClaren hails 'great win'

    FT: QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

QPR boss Steve McClaren tells Sky Sports:

"It's a great win. Three clean sheets, nine points, we'll take that. To get people ready for three games in six days is a mighty task.

"The players who came off the bench helped us get the win.

"We showed unbelievable character for 90 minutes. I couldn't be more proud of the team than I am tonight.

"There's an art to defending. We recovered to shape. We won our duels. The two centre-backs were immense for us."

  5. Post update

    FT: QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

For new Villa boss Dean Smith, it's one win and two defeats so far, since replacing Steve Bruce.

Their optimism surrounding last Saturday's opening win over Swansea seems a long time ago now.

They stay 16th, now five points behind QPR.

  6. QPR's 'perfect' six days

    FT: QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

    QPR defender Toni Leistner adds:

"We've worked very hard in training and three clean sheets in a week, well, it's perfect."

  7. Lynch praises 'fantastic' QPR

    FT: QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

QPR defender Joel Lynch tells Sky Sports:

"I didn't think we had the best of games but the grit and determination to keep the lead was great from the lads and it's a great way to end the week.

"The all-round effort from the team is fantastic. It helps us out at the back and we just do our bit."

  8. FT: QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

QPR climb to seventh and move within three points of leaders Leeds United.

This is the first time Villa have failed to score in a Championship game this season, by the way. Some effort from the Rangers defence.

    Championship table

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

    Pawel Wszolek

It's all over! QPR had to battle for that, goodness me, but they've done it - it's three wins in a row and three cleans sheets in a row for the hosts!

Villa just couldn't find a way through.

  10. Post update

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

Villa are camped in the QPR penalty area now, but an offside flag might just have ended their chances, with time surely up.

  11. Post update

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

Angel Rangel does really well to get across and stop Tammy Abraham from shooting from eight yards out. A vital bit of defending.

  12. Post update

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

QPR have another 90 seconds or so left to held on to what would be a very impressive fourth win in five games without defeat.

  13. Get Involved

Gary O'Brien: Despite Villa’s endeavour, it’s not going to be our night. I just hope Dean Smith finds the answers before we end up worrying about the R word.

Chris Wex: Aston Villa proving (again) that a squad that looks good on paper is not as useful as one that looks good on grass

Zoe Henry: Is this the same QPR that lost 7-1 at the start of the season?

  14. CLOSE!

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

It's nearly 2-0 but Josh Scowen's ambitious strike from range is touched over the bar by Orjan Nyland.

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

The hosts' third and final change sees Eberechi Eze brought off, with target man Matt Smith coming on.

Meanwhile, there'll be four minutes of added time - 40 seconds of which pass during the substitution.

  16. Post update

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

It's not a great delivery and QPR keeper Joe Lumley comes out and claims it.

  17. Post update

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

Villa win a free-kick in a dangerous position, as Jonathan Kodjia is brought down by Toni Leistner.

John McGinn will look to curl this in to the area.

  18. Post update

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

QPR continue to edge closer and closer to a third straight win.

  19. Post update

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

Dean Smith isn't happy with what he appears to perceive as time-wasting from the hosts. He's telling the fourth official exactly what he thinks about it.

    QPR 1-0 Aston Villa

Now Massimo Luongo is booked for sliding in on Villa's Jonathan Kodjia.

But the clock continues to tick down on the visitors.
