  1. See you on Friday

And that is that for the evening.

Arsenal and Chelsea can both be happy enough with that first-leg work.

If you missed anything you can catch the match reports here - failing that, join us on Friday for a frankly unnecessary Premier League outing as Everton host Burnley...

  2. 'We know it will be difficult'

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Valencia

More from Arsenal manager Unai Emery on BT Sport: "Valencia are a good team. They played with strong players defensively and in midfield. They're strong at set-pieces, they scored and we struggled with set-pieces.

"We'll continue to work on what we can improve, on what we can do better, but generally in the first leg, over the 90 minutes, we can be happy and proud of the players and supporters. Now we will prepare the same for the second leg because we know it will be very difficult."

  3. 'It's 50/50'

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Valencia

    Unai Emery

Arsenal manager Unai Emery on BT Sport: "In the first leg we wanted to get a good result, knowing that it would be difficult. After the first goal our response was very good, with calmness and passion. We took our moments and the goals in the first half gave us confidence.

"We wanted to win and not to concede a second goal, but we also had to play. The third goal came at the end and for us it was important, but [the tie] continues to be 50-50."

  4. Post update

    10/10 stanchion. 9/10 kits.

  5. Steve Bould?!

    Arsenal 3-1 Valencia

    Steve Bould
Image caption: Steve Bould scored twice against Sampdoria...

Alexandre Lacazette became only the third player to score a brace in a European semi-final match for Arsenal, after Charlie George in the 1969-70 Fairs Cup and Steve Bould in the 1994-95 Cup Winners Cup.

  6. 'We deserved to win' - Sarri

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Chelsea

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri speaking to BT Sport: "I am very happy with the performance but not with the result. After 25 minutes we started to play. We played very well for 35 minutes in the second half, so I think in the end we deserved the win - but 1-1 away is not so bad.

"I think we changed the mentality in the second part of the first half, not the tactics. In the first 20-25 minutes we played only to manage the result at 0-0 but it's not our characteristic. We need to play, play, play against this sort of team that counter-attacks.

"I think we deserved a second goal. We had three or four opportunities. We could have scored more.

"We need to be careful [in the second leg]. We need to play with the same mentality. They are very dangerous especially with Jovic. They are dynamic and very aggressive.

"At the end I had to bring off Loftus-Cheek. Loftus in the box is very useful. I also wanted to change Giroud but then I changed my mind because he's useful in defence."

  7. Post update

All set for a London derby in Baku?

It's only 2,900 miles from the English capital...

  8. 'We want to win the trophy'

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Valencia

    Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette on BT Sport: "We know it's going to be hard [in Valencia] so of course getting as many goals as we could is better for us.

"I had two more chances where I could have done better but thankfully Auba [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] scored the third one.

"We conceded the first goal. We knew they were good on set-pieces and we have to be careful of that in the second leg. But the team showed good character and reacted well, and that's a good thing from tonight.

"We want to win the Europa League to go straight to the Champions League but also to win a trophy. We want to finish in the top four in the Premier League and if we can go to Baku [for the Europa League final] it will be special."

  9. When's the second leg?

    Nice and easy this one.

Both games are played in a week's time, both kick-off at 20:00 BST.

  11. 'We're only human, after all'

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Valencia

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on BT Sport: "I hope that third goal will be important. We started not so good but we had a good reaction and I think today we played very well. We started a bit nervous because we lost the last three games, I think that's normal. We are human, but after that we had a good reaction.

"We have a lot of quality in this group and we can go to the final. We know the next game will be difficult but if we have the same ingredients there then we will go through.

"It's our target to reach the final and win this trophy. We know it's an opportunity to qualify for next year's Champions League. We stopped in the semi-finals last year but we've learned from last year's errors and hopefully this year we won't do the same. We will give everything to qualify for the Champions League."

  12. 'Time to finish the job'

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Chelsea

    Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta on BT Sport: "At 1-0 down we were a bit in trouble but we ended the first half well and in the second half we had more chances than them. We knew that we did not start well, we couldn't cope with their pressure and conceded.

"We scored at a good time which was important and the ambition of the team was to win the game in the second half. Jorginho is important for us to control the game.

"We have an away goal which is important but it is only the first step. Everything will be decided next Thursday. They are a dangerous team. The job started in September, now let's finish it and bring our fans to Baku."

  13. 'Jorginho dictates the play'

    Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Chelsea

    Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on BT Sport: "Jorginho dictated the play. He sucks players in which gives me space to turn and run at players. Second half we had most of the play, we were in control apart from a few counter-attacks.

"All in all we were a threat. The atmosphere was really loud, I really enjoyed the occasion. Hopefully we can do well in the second leg."

  14. Post update

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Valencia

    Lee Dixon

Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

That third goal has taken it to a different level. It was a little bit nervous at 2-1. For me, it's still nervous at 3-1 because this team can concede goals but they can also get goals.

With what they've got up front - Aubameyang and Lacazette - they've got a great chance of scoring an away goal, and that'd put the tie out of reach for Valencia.

But that third goal is invaluable for Arsenal's mindset going into the second leg. You don't relax but you think 'this is ours, this is the one we take advantage of, we're going to the final'.

Six shots, four on target, two goals but two big misses too.

A weird old game for Alexandre Lacazette...

That goal could mean an awful lot to Arsenal in this semi-final. Unai Emery's celebration there told you everything, wheeling away with both arms out wide.

  17. Post update

    Arsenal 3-1 Valencia

    Lee Dixon

Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Lucas Torreira was down in the box and that's what the confusion was. But Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang forgets the confusion and puts it in at the far post. It's brilliant striker play because everyone was distracted by Torreira.
