  1. Post update

    Newcastle 2-1 Bournemouth

Play is stopped as Fabian Schar goes down off the ball from a Newcastle corner.

It's actually team-mate Salomon Rondon who blocks him off, and he's given Schar a bit of a nose bleed.

    Who needs enemies.

    Newcastle 2-1 Bournemouth

    We're off!

One forced change for the Cherries at the break as goalscorer Jefferson Lerma is withdrawn through injury.

    He's replaced by Dan Gosling.

  3. Post update

    Newcastle 2-1 Bournemouth

This game is running a bit behind the other 3pm kick-offs due to Adam Smith's injury - but we should be back under way shortly.

    Newcastle 2-1 Bournemouth

Well, what a first half at St James' Park that was.

Newcastle were in control of this contest thanks to two Salomon Rondon goals - but Jefferson Lerma's header deep into stoppage time has set up a very exciting second half.

  5. GOAL - Newcastle 2-1 Bournemouth

    Jefferson Lerma

The ball is whipped in by David Brooks from the free-kick, it's cleared but only as far as Ryan Fraser who delivers another good cross into the box where Jefferson Lerma is placed to half the deficit before the interval.

    Game on!

    Newcastle 2-0 Bournemouth

That's a crunching tackle by Fabian Schar on David Brooks, and the Newcastle defender receives a just yellow.

Free kick Bournemouth in a good position...

    Newcastle 2-0 Bournemouth

What an excellent save that is from Asmir Begovic!

It's his team-mate Callum Wilson who directs the ball towards goal and Begovic has a split second to react and push the ball over the bar.

The Cherries are able to clear their lines again but they've been put under real pressure by the Magpies in the last few minutes.

  8. Post update

    Newcastle 2-0 Bournemouth

There will be eight minutes of stoppage time at the end of this first half, following that painful looking injury to Adam Smith.

It's Newcastle that are looking more likely to score again before the interval. That really would be game over...

    Newcastle 2-0 Bournemouth

Salomon Rondon wants a penalty now!

Although he's obviously keen to wrap-up a first half hat-trick, he has a strong case as it appears Callum Wilson blocks his effort with his arm.

    Bournemouth escape.

  10. GOAL Newcastle 2-0 Bournemouth

    Salomon Rondon

    Rondon at the double!

The Newcastle striker initially dropped deep to collect the ball, before racing into the penalty area in time to meet Kenedy's excellent cross at head the ball powerfully beyond Asmir Begovic.

Great work from Rondon again. He's having a great game so far.

    Solomon Rondon
  11. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Ayoze Perez takes his turn to raise the offside flag now, which spares his blushes a bit as he appeared to trip over thin air as he collected the ball.

Mohamed Diame is down receiving some treatment.

  12. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

David Brooks lays it off neatly to Ryan Fraser who whips in a lovely cross, but the flag is up almost immediately and the chance disappears for the Cherries...

  13. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Newcastle have actually lost both their Premier League matches against Bournemouth at St. James' Park.

In fact their only home league win against the Cherries came back in February 1990.

28 years later and they're looking in a good position here - but the Cherries have looked dangerous when they break. They have a free-kick in a promising position now.

  14. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

The game continues now as Asmir Begovic gets us under way.

Who can get going again quickest? The opening half hour went perfectly for Newcastle.

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

After a lengthy wait on the pitch, there's a standing ovation for Adam Smith at St James' Park.

Charlie Daniels is on in place of Smith at left-back.

  16. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Adam Smith continues to receive treatment at St James' Park.

He's receiving oxygen on the pitch and there looks to be real concern for the Bournemouth man.

  17. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Adam Smith looks in trouble here.

He goes down as he prepares to take a free-kick, and he seemed to jolt his knee as he stuttered in his run-up to the ball.

The stretcher is coming over to him now and Bournemouth will be forced into an early change.

  18. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Martin Dubravka is at last called into action by the Cherries.

The Newcastle goalkeeper does well to keep out David Brooks' awkward free-kick.

Ryan Fraser follows up with an attempt but his shot is far too high.

  19. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Callum Wilson wriggles past Fabian Schar but Federico Fernandez is there once more to produce an excellent tackle and kill the danger.

Bournemouth win the corner, but with Newcastle under pressure the ball eventually falls to Lewis Cook who blasts over the bar.

    Better from Eddie Howe's men.

  20. Post update

    Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth

Former Bournemouth man Matt Ritchie tries his luck from a fair distance.

It's certainly powerful enough but it's far too high. A sign of the confidence Newcastle have at the moment.
