    Crystal Palace 0-2 Southampton

    And that's it!

Mark Hughes will be a relieved man.

Southampton hung on and the hosts just could not find a way through with Alex McCarthy in fine form in the Saints goal.

Danny Ings and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg win it for the visitors, despite Charlie Austin's penalty miss.

You can catch reaction to all the afternoon's Premier League matches over here.

    Goodbye for now!

  2. GOAL Crystal Palace 0-2 Southampton

    Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (90)

After soaking up everything Crystal Palace could throw at them in the closing stages, Southampton will have their first Premier League win of the season.

The Saints broke away, with Palace camped in the visitor's half, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg punished the Eagles with a well-taken finish beyond Wayne Hennessey.

    Game over.

  3. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

A terrific stop by Alex McCarthy may just have earned Southampton the points here.

He blocks Christian Benteke's point-blank header.

The Saints keeper has been superb today.

  4. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

Southampton edging ever closer to those three points now.

They've survived plenty of Palace pressure but have managed to find their way back up the pitch and take the action away from Wayne Hennessey's goal.

    Roy Hodgson

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

Palace are ramping up the pressure here and Alex McCarthy is forced into another excellent stop.

Southampton are under real pressure here and just can't keep hold of the ball.

    Nervous moments for Mark Hughes.

  6. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

Plenty of chances in this second half. Christian Benteke fails to direct a header on target as Palace search for a route back into this one.

Danny Ings is replaced by Oriol Romeu as Mark Hughes looks to see out a first Premier League victory of the season for Southampton.

Cheikhou Kouyate replaces Andros Townsend for Palace while Southampton swap Mohamed Elyounoussi for Matt Targett.

    Crystal palace 0-1 Southampton

Are Saints going to regret all these missed chances?

Mohamed Elyounoussi can only hit the crossbar as the visitors look to double their slender advantage.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

    Charlie Austin misses it!

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

Aaron Wan-Bissaka handles the ball and Southampton have the chance to double their lead.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

In the middle of all that, Shane Long has had to leave the field after picking up an injury, to be replaced by Charlie Austin.

  12. CLOSE!

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

How has that not gone in?

Christian Benteke, Patrick van Aanholt and James McArthur all stab at the ball as it bounces around the many bodies jammed inside the Southampton penalty area, but agonisingly none of them are able to convert for the home side.

    Christian Benteke

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

James McArthur goes so close to equalising for the hosts, but his curling effort from distance strikes the crossbar.

This feels like a completely different game to the first half.

  14. 'Lovely finish'

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

    Stephen Warnock

    Ex-Liverpool defender on Final Score

We've talked about how important it is for Danny Ings to have a good start both for Southampton and him personally.

It is a lovely finish through Wayne Hennessey’s legs. Two goals this season will do him a world of good.

    Danny Ings
  15. GOAL - Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton

    Danny Ings (46)

A perfect start to the second half for the visitors.

Danny Ings scores his second Saints goal, latching on to Cedric Soares' ball into the area to poke the ball beyond Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, who had an excellent first half.

A first league win of the season incoming?

    Danny Ings scores
  16. KICK-OFF

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton

    Back under way!

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton

And that's it for the first 45 minutes.

    It's been OK, I suppose.

  18. Chance!

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton

Luka Milivojevic almost delivers a much-needed moment of quality in this game as he hits a sweet volley from the edge of the penalty are following Andros Townsend's looping pass.

Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, fresh from his midweek England call-up, is equal to it.

  19. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton

The second half will have to contain something special for this game not to feature quite low down on the Match of the Day running order, you feel.

    Ryan Bertrand
  20. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Southampton

After a very tight, fairly uneventful start to the match, you feel Southampton are on top now.

They've restricted the hosts and have had quite a few decent opportunities so far - but Wayne Hennessey has been equal to everything.

Palace, to this point, are really missing their main man Wilfried Zaha.
