  1. Post update

Right then, after that feast of football it is time for a short break. (I need to hit the BBC canteen before it closes...)

But come back and join us at 22:45 BST for Saturday night's dessert: Real Madrid against Juventus.

We'll be bringing you every kick from that pre-season friendly taking place in the United States.

Warning: Cristiano Ronaldo is not playing. Don't let that put you off... Laters!

  2. Post update

If you're only just arriving (and frankly where have you been?), here's what you have missed in the football world today...

  3. FULL-TIME

    Arsenal 2-0 Lazio

    Job done for Arsenal.

A goal in each half from Reiss Nelson and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sees off the Italian Serie A side and warms them up nicely for next weekend's proper opener... against Manchester City at the Emirates on Sunday.

Gulp. Welcome to the Premier League Senor Emery...

  4. Post update

    Arsenal 2-0 Lazio

Ticking into stoppage time in Stockholm, it's been a useful exercise for Unai Emery and his men.

  5. FULL-TIME

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

Not one to live long in the memories of Spurs fans. A youthful side outclassed by a decent La Liga team.

  6. Post update

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

Yet another sloppy pass on the halfway line sums up tonight for this inexperienced Spurs team...

  7. Post update

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

Into stoppage time in Girona... three minutes to be precise.

  8. Post update

    Arsenal 2-0 Lazio

Arsenal are still searching for more goals, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang again in the thick of the action. His shot is blocked by the Lazio keeper but he can't hold it. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is lurking to pounce on the rebound.. again Silvio Proto is able to save.

  9. SUBSTITUTION

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

It's so easy for Girona that they've decided to take off their keeper. Although they could probably cope without a man between the sticks, they have replaced Bono (not that one) with Vito.

  10. Post update

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

About 10 minutes left in this one. Tottenham probably wish it was 10 seconds. They've barely got out of their half in the second half.

Gareth Snooks: Not sure what either Girona or Spurs will learn from this friendly. Spurs playing their C team and with 50% effort it seems.

  12. Milner needed 15 stitches - Klopp

    Liverpool 5-0 Napoli

Earlier we told you Liverpool skipper James Milner had to go off during his team's 5-0 win against Napoli with a head injury... turns out he has needed 15 stitches.

The Yorkshireman clashed heads with Napoli's Mario Rui early in the second half.

  13. Post update

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

Brief respite for Spurs as they have a drinks break with 15 minutes left. Mauricio Pochettino gathers his players around as he dishes out some instructions/rollickings to his young players. The home crowd amuse themselves with an enthusiastic Mexican Wave.

  14. Post update

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

Spurs keeper Paulo Gazzaniga tips over a rising shot from Girona goalscorer Juanpe as the La Liga side continue to smell blood.

Girona sub Kevin Soni is showboating now... a neat flick and pirouette leaving two Spurs defenders looking rather silly.

  15. Post update

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

It might all be going smoothly for Arsenal, but not so much for Spurs... they are well under the cosh.

  16. GOAL - Arsenal 2-0 Lazio

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Goooooooooaaaaaal! Arsenal double their lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon striker has a pop from the left side of the box, ball nestling nicely in the bottom corner.

  17. Post update

    Girona 4-1 Tottenham

I used to think Girona was simply the place where you caught a low budget flight to get to Barcelona.

Now it is the home of a vibrant La Liga side and a church which is used to film Game of Thrones. Throw in the warm weather and tasty food and you've got a great city break. At least the journey isn't lost on the Spurs fans...

  18. Post update

    Arsenal 1-0 Lazio

Arsenal have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi all working in tandem up top... and the trio almost combine for a second Gunners goal.

Lacazette is the one who pulls the trigger, but sees his effort stopped by the Lazio keeper.

  19. GOAL - Girona 4-1 Tottenham

    Aleix Garcia

Oh dear. Spurs being ripped apart like a piece of meat by a hungry wolf.

A simple ball over the top sends Portu scampering clean through for Girona, the short forward steadying himself before calmly sidefooting... against the post.

The ball bounces back out to Manchester City loanee Aleix Garcia... first shot blocked... second effort - a sharp, instinctive effort with the side of his foot - finding the top bin.

Aaron: Liverpool haven't missed a beat. Manchester City, Manchester United, Napoli all fallen. English champions, English runners-up, Italian runners-up. Might only be preseason but Liverpool have shown that they're in every game to win it so far. Scary prospect for the EPL
